2002 Protege5
I know there are a lot of P5s in Rochester, how many of us are on the board? Don't be shy speak up!

protege5 in rochester

i live in canandaigua and have a dark blue mp5 purchased from ontario mazda.
i't a 5 speed and i am awaiting a turbo from mazdaspeed

very happy with the car.

i think u got a loooong wait ahead of u bf5 :)

i went to RIT, drove a mx6 then, now i drive a MSP

ill be back sometime this spring to see some pals and mainly cuz im having tahou's withdrawel..........droooool...................omg...........drooooooooool...................

bf5 i didn't think you could get mazdaspeed parts such as the turbo except as replacements.

i have doubts about the t25 turbo in the mazdaspeed protege becoming available for mp5's as an add on installed by a mazdaspeed dealer so it won't void your warranty.

i get the impression from mazda dealerships such as roger burdick in syracuse that the turbo could be made available as an upgrade.
i know you can by mazdaspeed pistons and cams for your car as an upgrade right now, and they are not replacements, they are enhancements, but the turbo unit (which also requires an intercooler, complete exhaust mom ect) may only be a repacement part order.

i would like to know a sure way to boost the hp around 30 without hurting the mpg.
iam on a misson to collect the mazdaspeed protege parts for my car, i like to keep things stock as possible.
so once they become available (pedals, wheels, shift knob)
except for the ridiculous price of the head unit from the mp3 or the mazdaspeed protege.
i did stay with t he kenwood theme for my inside sice kenwood traditionally makes electronics that fit mazda

the mp5 is inspired by the mp3.
it's loser related to the mp3 than the new mazda speed obviously
they came out the same year,
the cars share hadling components, ground effects, foglights, red illumination, interior look ect.

so it would not be a bad idea to collect mp3 parts for your car.

anyway, i do want to keep it close to stock by emulating what mazda does.

MY BLUE MP5

llumar stealth tint 35% around.
no roof rack
mazdaspeed logo mirror tint front window
mazda logo mirror tint rear window
mp5 badging on sides and rear.
kenwood mp3 player with kenwood components and kenwood rear door speakers
jl audio monoblock 500W amp and W6 version 2 12" sub
Japanese for electronics and american for the sub and sub amp always

future mods

racing hart 17" wheels
lowering springs from mazda
yellow or silver vinyl
sparco pedals from mazda
mazdaspeed exhaust for natually aspirated (dont take a chance at losing compression, this fits your car perfectly. unless you want a deafening aftermarket rumble)
mp3 or mazdaspeed shft knob
A TURBO?????

hey bf5 you didn't happen to apply as a service writer at vincent mazda in E.R. a while ago, did you????

yes dynotrick, and i remember you.
my memory quickly recollected that you wanted my leather shift knob added to the 2002.5 mp5's.
i do like the previous style found in your car better.
but i am keeping it for sentimental reasons.

are you still in sales at vincent mazda?

yup, and I changed my mind about the shift knob to :)
sounds like you did alot to your car since i saw it! cool to see you on here. I assume you found a job, what are you doing now?

i'm in rochester

yo,
i just found this thread. i live in rochester and drive a midnite blue p5... pretty much stock with a killer audio system in it.
i'm also looking to add some power to my car, although its still a blast to drive.
i've seen a bunch of p5's in town.... which one's are you guys drivin?

I'm originally from Newark, NY, 20 miles from Rachacha. I now have a MP5 in Atlanta Ga. Currently I have a Thermal Catback and a Injen intake. Two mods I highly suggest if you are trying to keep an NA car. I am thinking og going turbo though. I think the best company out there right now is Spoolin' Turbo. I am looking into a stage 2. Hows the weather up there?

well, winter finally broke a few weeks ago thank god... and when its not raining, cloudy or cold the weather is fine here (hehe). This weekend was actually nice, and i got to spend the day waxing my ride.
my stereo- i replaced all six speakers with infinity reference components, put in an alpine 5-channel amp and a 10 inch sub as suggested by SirNuke on the boards. It ran me about $550 and 20 hours of labor and it sounds real nice. The coolest thing about it is that I kept my stock head unit, so would be thiefs don't even though i have anything in there.
