P5 top speed

around 179km/hr

It's written in offical P5 catalogue.

179km = ? mile? I dunno.....

Thats roughly 111 mph, though thought they were limited little higher. (120ish)

i have an AT and the fasted i've gone was about 190 km/h ... i guess that's about 118 mph...

around 179km/hr

It's written in offical P5 catalogue.

of course, it may have been a strong wind pushing from behind or the fact that i was drafting my buddy who was also pushing about 190km/h (MP5 with mods).

dunno..i've had my DX protege up to like 130+ on the FDR southbound (NYC)..thats after a chip though..

What chip do you have? I'm interested in getting one. What chips are out there?

Thanks,
Sam

Yea, the best i ever hit was a little over 110, and i was really trying to go quicker. I dont know how some of you got your cars up to 130... And what chips do they make for our cars that auctually work??

i got my mp3 up to 128. i think it was still climbing but i pussed out. I dont drive that fast anymore, i cant afford to loose my license. i got pulled over doing 105 and scared some sense into me.

I took my auto P5 up to 190 Km/H....
The engine was going crazy at about redline, but I was trying to push it further....it wouldn't go....I think it cut off a couple of times too!!!

all I had done was a had a harness made to remove the fuel shut off..no big deal really..definetly could make it to 140 if i wanted it get nasty..you just have to find a person to make you the ecu harness..which isn't easy to come buy since the car is so new..its nice to have friends that work at mazda dealerships that sell mazdapseed parts..

There is no speed related cutoff on the any 3rd gen protege, only a lrev-limiter. And I doubt many of you have hit the rev-limiter while in top gear, our cars are drag limited, so you can very rarely even get to redline in 5th gear.

The rev-limiter is there for a reason, why would you want to get rid of it?

As for getting to 140?

hummmmmm...

I did about 136-137mph and it wasn't redlined our cars just can't get there if i were to say , topped out the protege can hit 145-150 ish but that is toatlly done out. But i have done several speed runs and to get the car past like 125 u just have to stay in it for a long time which can get very scary. It will do it u just have to whip her into doing that beating and btw i have to say i love the adrinaline rush!
But make it known that is stupid s*** doing what i do but i am the only one on the road when i do it so u'all be safe and take care.
Peace,
Zane

It's a fuel shut off, definetly can't get to the redline in the gear..I hit about 125-almost 130 prior on Rt7, and you just have the fuel shut-off bypassed you can squeak out another 5mph..but stock doesnt have the power to get past 140, that car is about as aerodynamic as a house..There is a speed govener, and thats what is..a fuel shutoff

there isnt a govenor of any kind in the protege 5 . i would guess the same for yours spicy. i got to 120 and backed off because it takes too long. it needs more power.
the roads around where i am are very crowded and i dont feel like killing myself or others.

and if i may ask someone who knows about aero dynamics better than myself, why is the p5 so grag limited.??

Drag high??
Drag ratio is about .32 which is pretty low. For comparison: WRX is around .33
Focus .33
New Bug roughly .38ish

Well, I'm pretty sure its a fuel shutoff..and in most new cars there IS a fuel shut off..usualy anywhere from 120-140..most american cars shut off at about 115-120..But when i got up to about 135 the car will lurch and the rev's will sink, so explain to me..how in the upper 3/4 of a gear..how in the world the rev's would DROP suddenly..how is that not a fuel shut off? BTW the venom 400 ecu controller for the VNC-1000 nitrous setup bypasses your fuel shut off..

air density thru the MAF ;)
