this thing is all over the place, i get home from school, its on the E line, i go to work at 6 and its about 1/16 of a tank (1/4 the way to the first big tick mark) then after work, its at 1/8...its like my car's magicallly pissing gas into the tank....i dont get it

the light officially comes on when there's about 2.1 gallons left

Generally speaking when the light comes on you have about 2-3 gallons left.

when the light comes on...i've got about 50 miles left....that's plenty of gas

~slows to a stop as engine dies~

we have a water temp gauge? I thought it was an oil Temp gauge...

good~! thanks

but don't try to push it. The light comes on at 2.1 gal. So that'll give you 50-58 miles, depending on how you drive. You may want to find what you average for mpg. That'll give you an idea of how far you can go when the orange light comes on.

That "annoyance" was posted on the site with the TSB's

We 2.0 engines have 2.1 US Gallons left in the tank when the meter reads "empty". I think the 1.8L's and Rx7's have 2.6. Mazda knows that it's like that, they just continue to produce it like so.

I guess it can be kinda nice-it will leave less people stranded for gas. Kinda like keeping your clock set ahead, and waking up in the morning and feeling "OH s***!", but then soon after you realize you're alright.

Either that or you're a slacker like me and go back to sleep, pushing your luck every time :)

Depends on how you look at it.

i found a problem with your 2.1 gallon theory, i put 2 gallons in from a gas can that was full and the light was still on

then your gauge is ****** up because i always top off when i get gas and i usually do it when the light comes one and i get around 12.2 gallons usually. 12.2 + 2.1 = 14.3 ~~ 14.5
