P5 Clearcoat?

Not that it's a major with me, but I have not been able to find any Mazda doc. that states that the P5s are clearcoated. I'm assuming that if it isan't stated so, then they are not clearcoated. It will make a difference with my finish care methods, but would not stop me from the purchase. I did a search here, but came up empty.
Thanks, Jim

supposedly the bright colors are not clearcoated, but the silver metallic and one other color is , maybe the blue....

its best to get it done clearcoated.. .i doubt anyof them are ... as much as i love my car, its not a million dollar sports car... the dealer paint sealed and did mine for me at nocharge... best bet is to look at the actual sticker of your car if you still have it, or if you can get a hold of one at the dealer.

Paint Sealing vs. Clearcoating

They are not the same thing. While there is nothing inherently wrong with paint sealant, it's not the same thing as a coat of clear acrylic sprayed on the car's parts at the time of manufacture. Jim

that is true... sorry if i mislead you though, when i said "the dealer paint sealed and did mine for me at nocharge", i meant that they did both. Anyway, yes i do recommend you look into it.. i am curious as well if it cam clearcoated from the factory.

I finally had the time to check with the dealer's body shop and an independant body shop that I know pretty well. According to both, the P5s are clearcoated. They both stated that 99% of new vehicles are clearcoated now. The ones that are not are intended for construction or industrial usage. The body guys were not sure what the clearcoat material is (polyurethane or acrylic) as it appears to be dependant on what body plant produced the particular body. Jim
