Hey guys my cel came on this morning when driving to work and this is the code that came up when I scanned it and looked it up on alldata. Has anyone had this code and had a problem with it? Do u know how to fix it? I'm going to clear the code and see if it comes back. My car also idles very low and dies sometime when i put the car in nuetral. I don't know if these have anything to do with eachother but was just informing you incase they do. Thanks

i thought that code was for the oxygen sensor not working i dont remember though forsure

Ok so my coolant biols over in the overflow tank as its getting to hot but yet my temp gauge inside the car reads normally. If I change out the coolant temp sensor will it fix this problem or do you know what will?

Changed my temp sensor and it fixed the problem and It also fixed the problem or my car almost dieing/cutting out when in nuetral

boiling is overheating, hope you didn't warp the head or blow a gasket.

when you get any low circuit codes its usually a bad sensor or connection.

Ya i know i checked for headgasket and i haven't and i'm not leaking so i don't think the head is warped at all. what other sensor besides the coolant temp sensor could it be?

OK i looked this up on my mazda shop manual an this is what is says:

DTC P0117 = ECT(Engine Coolant Temperature sensor) circuit low imput
-PCM monitors ECT sensor signal at PCM terminal 38. if voltage at terminal 38 is below 0.20V,PCM determines that ECT sensor circuit has malfunction.

POSIBLE CAUSE

-ECT sensor malfunction
-Short to ground circuit between ECT sensor terminal A and PCM connector terminal 38
-ECT signal and ground circuits are shortened each other
-PCM malfunction

Hope that helps u out or some one else can coroborate on it(thumb)

Ya i changed the sensor and that fixed the problem there but my coolant still gets hot and boils over ocassionally. What else could it be? HELP!! I also changed my thermostat

Alright I will try it. Anything that might work to fix this problem bc I don't want to hurt my motor!

I am having the same issues and the coolant is boiling in the reservoir. MY mechanic replaces the temp sensor and still the same problem. Next thing to replace is the hemostat.
