P/S Flush

Hello,
I have a 2000 M/S Protege ES, w/ 111k on it. We bought it brand new, and the P/S fluid has never been replaced. Is it necessary? (I heard some fluids are long lasting.) The color of the fluid is amber when a drop is placed on a paper towel (similar to the color of oil).

Thanks.

I did the BG services p/s flush around 40k just to try to squeeze more life from the rack/pump. They flush it with some stuff to clean/condition seals then push new synthetic fluid back in. Costs about 100.00 but just depends on whatcha wanna do. I'm sure it can stand to be changed about like the auto tranny fluid would need to be to get more life from it. Of course the tranny has more stress & heat & is more costly to replace if neglected. 111k seems like stretching your luck no matter what color the fluid is tho.
