well i was at a local show the other day dynoing my car. I have a boost controler, injen, and open downpipe. They started to argue with me and almost not let me on dyno becasue i have a MSP. They said you are not turning boost up becasue we have rebuilt 2 other in the area and they blow up even just running them stock. I signed the wavier before i even got on the dyno saying they were not responsible for any damage and crap. Why do people think that are cars are a big piece of s***.

Then they told finaly when they let it ran that it was detonateing rapidly. I didnt gear and nethier did anyone else. i dont think it would do that with the mods i have.

It would help if you could add octain to your car's fuel or get higher rated fuel before your next dyno. Gas is cheaper than an engine. I agree, there should be no concern with your mods.

Have fun on Dyno day next time and don't worry about what other people think. Are you happy with your car???

im happy with my car. i was at 10 pounds, exhaust wide open, 93 octane (never anything lower) and injen intake.

I put down 190hp and 220 torque. day before ran a 14.5 at 95.57

Guy just really pissed me off. I told him that it was my car and if it blew up just push the damn thing off the dyno and ill take care of it. (i dont have money to fix it as of now if it did but hey, this is the price we pay to play.)

Screw the guys from Abacus Ted, they are idiots. You put down some good ass numbers man. Our cars aren't junk, some owners just don't know what their limits are and kill them and others just get bad cars to start with.

i figured it would fuel cut before any problems. i hear a lot of reson people blow there s*** up is becasue of fuel cut deffenders. the put one on turn up boost and just go at it. I might be boost happy but i understand as it gets cooler i turn the boost down. Some dont understand that 10-12 pounds on a 80 degree day is totaly different then 45 degree day at same boost.

Yeah it sounds like you know what's going on...but still I'd be careful. Relying on the fuel cut to protect your motor has been a costly mistake for a few people....I think you'll be fine where you are, but as long as you realize you're still taking a risk :)

Yeah thats just stupid. The car isnt going to blow up for no reason. THey said you were getting detonation though? If it was audible I would think you would have known when your motor popped.

wen my car was dynoed stockhey heard a audible pinging....the motors aint crap on our cars...its the bad ecu......our motors aint any different then a d16 wit a turbo kit on it......get a ems on that car and enjoy the boost

Do our cars have a knock sensor?

yes. it is passive though, not active. it doesn't start to retard timing until knock is present. it won't save an engine either.

If you are worried about knock I would recomend the basic steps to reduce the risk of the problem. A Nice Fat FMIC, Colder Plugs, Higher Test Gas, Extra Injectors, Changing the compression Ratio to suit the higher boost...All or One at a time. Whatever...they are all great ways to save an engine. IMO the FMIC is a no brainer and something Mazda should have done right off the bat!

I know that this isn't for everyone. However, it sounds like you are starting to push your MSP to the higher limits of what it was designed to do. I do not know how far it will go with simple (But excelent) bolt ons. Later... Brian
