Ordered Millenia PCV valve, now question

I recently was changing all my vacuum lines to silicone and noticed oil in the lines I took off from the PCV valve to the intake manifold. I did some reading up on the subject and concluded since I recently upgraded my SMIC causing my boost to go up a couple psi's, that I needed to upgrade my PCV valve. From what I've read our stock PCV valve was only meant for stock boost and starts to leak once the boost is turned up which would explain the oil in my vacuum lines. I just ordered the Millenia PCV valve and was wondering if those of you that have upgraded to this in your cars, is a oil catch can still necessary and/or suggested? I bought one but am having trouble finding room to mount it so I was thinking if it wasn't necessary or suggested then I would use it as a coolant catch can as I have seen others on here do. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Same deal with me, but I just never bothered to ask. I switched to the Millenia PCV valve and won't bother putting the oil catch can based on what I've read on here. Good question, I'd like to know myself.

Yeah that is one of the many threads I have read. Many people said they would report back their findings running the Millenia PCV valve and the oil catch can but I never saw anyone actually do it. I did see one person say it was not necessary to run both so I guess I was just looking to see if anyone else had any updated verdicts.
 
Interesting read. I noticed a small amount of oil around the two lines that feed in to the line that goes on to the PCV awhile ago. I put two zip ties on the line and that seemed to solve the problem. I just put in some new plugs and a PCV yesterday. I'll give the Millena S one a try if I see any traces of oil, only I will go with a Purolator PV1047 or Fram FV 327. $20 for a PCV is bit crazy IMO. Mazda really loves there parts!

Word. I was just wondering why everyone is paying way out the wazoo for this thing. I just picked up a purolator pv1047 for $1.97 at my local auto store. Same thing far as I am concerned.

Oops. I didn't realize how old this thread was. My bad for bumpin it. I found this thread thru google, instead of this forums search option. later.

i haven't changed mine either, but did notice a little buildup around the lines that connect to the PCV. i'll go order a part and change it.

because that aftermarket bulls*** are s***
they're built with cheap s*** and put together half assed

if you're going to be a cheap ass, you might as well stick to the ORIGINAL *stock* PCV valve

spending $700 on pipes, BOVs, and other s*** to add more power but not spending $20 for reliability just doesn't make any sense

Blablabla yadda yadda yadda you never have anything good to say about anything. Just cuz you paid $20 for some piece of plastic, doesn't mean it works any better than the same factory replacement part.

Maybe if you are just a tad little more nice on these forums, instead of being being billybadass, some people might listen to you. Don't go and try to tell me all you have done for this community, cuz I know. You are a great asset and full of information and put together a great website, but dude, you got to let up on the negativity. You weren't born out the ass end of a f*cking Mazda.

Yeah, over pay for a part that gets gunked up with oil residue fairly quickly. Now that is some sound and insightful advice for sure.
 
I was running 10 to 12 lbs and my factory one was fine. I'm assuming that the ES 2.0 is pretty much the same everything beside the turbo. I took it off one day to check it I blew into it and it works great.

I am going to agree with this by saying that trying a $1.97 PCV first is smarter then dropping 20 on something with a dealer name.

hmm after a few bad experiences with stuff on my race bike, sled and previous cars, nothing beats OEM sometimes.. and for a pcv valve, i'd go with a 20$ pcv from mazda anytime which i know is made with (suposedly) good quality materials and not some cheap china s***. they have standards.. and non OEM sometimes is not as good..

I highly doubt that Mazda is manufacturing inhouse a PCV. It could be made in India,Pakistan,Korea,Thailand,Mexico,or China and then stamped with the mazda brand and part number. Who knows really. Granted there are definitely parts that should be replaced with OEM brand and not aftermarket ones. This just isn't one of them for me and others. Its an option for some to replace the stock valve, not an absolute.

The problem was not that the valve wasn't rattling, it still did, but that there was clearly evidence of oil residue on the two feeder hoses that the PCV hose is T-d into. The Milennia SC valve fits better in the gromment and so far there is no trace of oil residue on the hoses.
 
I'm willing to put money on it that the "MAZDA" pcv valves are made in some top notch high tech facility and are made like no other. They're a corporation so they care about profit.
