hey just ordered the corksport sri, any opinions on this? i have seen sone good reviews but wanting people's thoughts on power differences?? and would it be worth extending it with an elbow to make it more or a cai?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

I should have a used unit (thanks Elfhearse!) showing up shortly.

Also thinking about doing the same thing. I need to measure the length of a Honda Civic CAI (by AEM) that I have access to. I figured that should be a good starting point for length and tuning from there. Also need to find a good spot to pick up cold air that doesn't get too much dirt or water. On the Honda Civic there was a nice access point in the wheel well that was protected by the fender liner.

Power difference is there you will notice it. no HOLY s*** kind of power but its nice. I honestly cant see much benefit from putting an elbow and extending it down. Plus the 2 has no splash shield which you risk easily getting water in the intake. Might not be a problem in your area, but in Boston not a good idea as we are gettin assloads of rain right now. Corksport has a great design right from their shop.

yes i was thinking along the lines of sheilding it, its either that or im going to slightly modify the current intake piping that goes from under the bonnet (hood in the states) and see if i can use it to feed air to the filter, this should help a lil, injen's CAI is good and does come with a hydro sheild but at a price, tbh i think thats a lil disheartening that they are charging so much just to stop you flooding the filter lol, i've got to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive from the uk's corksport supplier, but will be posting pics when its installed :P

Hi Chris,

Just got mine from Elfhearse. The MAF adapter has a 2.5" OD on the intake and outgo sides if you'd like a head start on tubing.

UPDATE:

Didn't rain today so I was able to install. A little easier than Corksports extremely detailed instructions would have you think.

Moved the battery back slightly for a little more clearance. I didn't have to unplug the MAF wires and was able to just swap it over. Used the OEM hoses rather than the supplied hoses, but I may go back and swap them in as the bends aren't quite in the right places. The MAF housing is a very nicely machined and finished unit. The silicone MAF adapter is well made and beefy. The Corksport supplied hose clamps are really high quality units which is really appreciated. Overall quality is excellent.

I may still try adding an extension just to see if it would change anything. My only other thought is that an air filter with a built-in velocity stack, like some of the other K&N filters, might flow a bit more. But that's speculation only.

So,,,,,,, ZERO issues with the install. But, wait, there's more..........

Results (Initial impression):

A bit more ZOOM-ZOOM, which is especially noticeable in the lower gears. Definitely peppier.

Slightly louder when the pedal is pushed down and the sound itself is a bit throatier. Not too loud at all and barely noticeable at low RPM. The neighbors won't complain. Just enough extra 'growl' for me.

Throttle response seems better. On and off the throttle going around a large, open corner makes more of a difference in the attitude of the car.

To me, its well worth the money. Excellent Bang for the Buck. Good job Corksport!!!!

I love it but it’s not perfect. Needs a air box or something, just sucks hot air off the engine but has a lot less air restriction. But the noise it make is AWESOME! Purrs beautifuly pas 3000rpm, very nicely.

yes i also was thinking about the hot air its going to be sucking in so im thinking of modifying the itake pipe that runs from the front to the standard panel filter so that it funnels cold air from the front of the car straight onto the filter

Now that I've had it on for a few days, I like it even better. FWIW, throttle response is nicely improved and the additional power lower in the power band makes the car much easier to drive. Especially in traffic.

Now to direct some cold air to it. Are there any openings in the radiator support panel that I could use?

Just pull out those completely useless fog lights and use the holes and some hoses to ram some air up there. ;)

Geez, I'd hate to pull those out. They're really handy when i drop the keys in front of the car......... As long as I don't drop them more than a couple feet away.

put up some pics of this airbox and i might consider also getting one, how will it benefit exactly? will it sit around the filter to stop it sucking in the warm air?

I'd be down with a heatshield as well... Thats my only reasoning for not getting a corksport is that I dont wanna suck up even hotter-than-south-Georgia air

anything happened with the product request and btw, any of you guys from corksport know when the next shipment of the SRI's are heading for the uk, i been waiting nearly 3 weeks now for my SRI from FR&R tuning :(

if fitted correctly and secured and made of the right material, it would block most heat and if you had some hoses running into the box it would (depending on where the hoses are coming from (lower)) supply colder air. honestly from what ive been looking at and into (tons and tons of bored in class research :) ) theres a ton of ways to modify the 2's intake/box/airflow/younameit, im waiting for the SRI to come in (mondayyyyy fingers crossed) and then ill start my project aribox. since summers in texas=hell temperatures but winters can = cold as b*** ill need to make a good airbox so the SRI doesnt soak up to much heat.

tl:dr= heat shield/colder air with hoses/placement

Let me check with Navdeep over there.

hey sorry i not been on for a while, been having time with my baby daughter while im off work, well i last spoke to FR&R about week or week and half ago, they said they were closing for 2 weeks or something and they should have it when they reopen, im ringing them 2morow see whats happening, been a month if not more and tbh im considering refunding my money because i had money for someone to install it and everything ready for the 2 week original delivery time but now its all out the window haha

Hi Chris,

Install is EASY and Corksport provides complete instructions. No odd tools needed.
