orange to... silver?

i used to not like silver very much(which is what i have, but i realized something when i saw an audi a4 with the reiger kit: silver with red accents(like the evo 7 style taills) and dark rims w/ a polished lip looks amazing.

you have a good factory paint job now. You'll never get the same quality from a autoshop without spending WAY WAY too much money. You'll be ******* yourself in the long run anything less then that

Sell the car. It would be a real shame to have one of the few orange's defaced like that.

btw, there are a few lx's and ES's here that have done the mp3/MSP conversion. Front bumper/skirts/wheels etc. Search in the photo section and you should come across at least 2 silver ones that look identical to a 2003 MSP in silver.

white msp = hot

u say a lot of silver/grey, but no whites :)

few? orange was one of the most produced colors :p for the MSP anyway...

and you dont see very many whites because there is no such thing as a white MSP :p, it would be kinda cool to have, but half the appeal of the MS Protege to me, as opposed to a P5, or a regular protege, is the colors and body and s***, if i was going to have a fast car i would have gotten a P5 for much cheaper, and modded it, but i wanted the cool limited productionness of the MSP, so i would never even dream of painting my car, besides the fact that blue is my all time favorite color, so if i were to repaint any of my cars, it would be blue :p...

but i do agree, sell the car or trade it for one with the color you like, but it appears that is your plan anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do (thumb) :D...

5-6k for a paintjob? That's a bit steep.
No, not really. Consider that you have to do the engine bay, door sills, underneath the trunk, etc....it will really add up.

just because I raised the question doesn't mean I was serious about doing it. I was merely curious as to what the costs would be. Since none of the dealerships I had dealt with were willing to give me anything close to my payoff (about 2k shy) I figured, as opposed to just throwing that money away by trading it in for far less than she's worth, why not just put that 2 grand into the car? Obviously it will cost a hell of a lot more than 2 grand... but it doesn't really matter. My perception on the whole color thing has changed quite a bit. I no longer give a s*** about what others think... in fact, as was the case when I first bought it, I'm likeing the idea of being different.

btw... starting my new job tomorrow. the parking lot looks like a hertz rental car location. all these boring ass sedans... they NEED a car like mine (as well as the guy who drives it) to liven that place up!

I still say the silver looks hot... not really feelin the white but then again I've never liked white cars. call it... reverse racism.

no it wasnt.

it has been my understanding that the in 03 black and orange were the only 2 colors produced, split up between 2000+ units or so, in the later production years the colors were around 500 units apeice, if we are talking purely MSP's, orange isn't a rare color, but as far as protege's go orange is probably the only color that is specific to JUST the speed protege, but i was refering to speeds, not proteges in general...

please correct me if i'm wrong ...

The only color i would change my sunlight silver to be the MSM red!....i was at the dealer for some service and noticed a new MSM....the red paint on my car would be bad ass....who else agrees....A red mica MSP?!(thumb)

so, since you had the 2k to spend on paint, what are you gonna do to ur car with it?:D something that has to do with fastness? Maybe a slightly different look with some exterior mods? Or are you going to do something stupid like save it?:P

silver is boring ass

but it still looks good on some setups, I'm not feeling it on the MSP though. White is the hottness on a lot of rides (Mazda3 S sedan OMFG!) and I think someone will do a white MSP someday and be king s*** for doing it. By the way I've been trying to trade for an orange for a while now. Now blue isn't silver, but it's defintetely not orange either. (I would need to keep my wheels and tires in the trade though/unless you have all season rubber). Let me know if interested.

ya, and from everything i've heard as of lately there are only 500ish blues, 500ish yellows, etc, the 03.5's all were around 500 units produced, which is still less than 650, which would make it one of the more produced colors, black is probably the biggest obviously... is there a definite count tho? like an official mazda website that says? because it would be nice to have some EXACT numbers instead of going off everyones speculations...
