How do you mount an Optima Battery, it is 1" shorter than the OEM battery. Did anybody else have their 03.5 Speed OEM battery die this soon?(argh)

the factory batery sucks, mine died shortly after it was stored. stayed in the garage for 2-3 months after I got it.

The Optima battery should come with a height adapter plate that raises the battery ~ 1.25" so that the stock battery clamp can be used.

Thanks, I'll head back to the store tomorrow!!!(uhm)

i just made a 1 1/2 metal box to put under mine.... painted it black (along with the sides of the battery) and it does not look out of place at all

The guy at the part store said the Yellow Top doesn't have the adapter!?!? Does anyone make a sexy aftermarket battery mount? Anybody else have battery problems?

You could use my solution. Not exactly the easiest or least expensive choice however.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Billet-Optima-Battery-Tray-Box-Bracket-Hold-Down_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33575QQitemZ7992444422QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Common solutions include the plastic optima riser and / or mild reshaping of the stock bracket. Good luck!

Edit - oops, original link did not work.

That's pretty cool, but it still doesn't look like it raises it enough to use the hold down. How is it mounted to keep the battery from moving?

damn that looks bad ass.....how much did you get your's for?
Thanks. $100 - Worth every penny. Coming from a street rod background, I couldn't help myself - even for my daily driver. It was however, the mod that kept costing me $$$ (as in, wow, those stock terminals look like crap - better replace those, "wow, the stock overflow tank looks like crap - better replace that", "wow, the power steering tank looks like crap now - you get the idea) Its definitely coming along to all future projects it will fit in.

It bolts in from the bottom to the stock tray and is very solid w/ good clearances all around. Getting it mounted to the stock tray was a PITA. (lol2) Frankly, even I know this is a little over the top considering it costs nearly as much as the battery, but if you are crazy enough to take the plunge - pm me and I'll shoot over detailed install instructions.
