Optima Battery for Speed 6

i had one in my MSP and just put it in my MS6. yellow top and i think its 600 or 700 cca? can't remeber off the top of my head. it fits but i had to tighten it down pretty hard.

From his pictures, I think Qwik6 is running one of these in his MS6. A Red top I believe.

I used a big Red top on my 71 SS Nova drag car for several years. They are extremely great batteries.

Deciding on which one to get should be based upon your winters in my opinion. If you are in a place that gets consistently below freezing, I would recommend one of the 800 cold cranking amp Red tops. If you're worried about fitment into the stock position, just measure the stock battery and compare to the dimensions on the Optima website.

34R is the size the 6s uses, which fits snug. You have to bend your battery tie down a bit to make it fit (since there's no optima specifically designed for the 6) but it will work. I would imagine it would be the same for the MS6.

the only down side sofar to the optima's is if they die compleatly, they are toast. i had one go dead on me as per my fault, and wouldnt hold a charge ever again.

im running a yellowtop, had it for 5 1/2 years. previously on a 240sx running 2200watts.

Yea, these are one of the only batteries people consciously take out of a car before they trade it so they can put it in their new ride.

That could be either one (or both) of these reasons:
1) They cost an arm and a leg compared to regular batteries.
2) They're just that good.

yeah my protege had a small power drain in it, and i completely forgot about it, so after letting the car sit for a week in it's winter resting spot, and then decided to take the battery out without recharging it, i left the battery sit "dead" all winter long in a heated garage and then decided to charge it after 3-4 months. it was toast.

moral of the story, keep it charged when not in use! buy a 2amp Dry Cell battery charger that stops charging when full and you will be ok.
