He guys currently while driving smoke, blue smoke to be more clear pours out of my exhaust! My turbo is good, So im going after rings! My problem is I need this car to last quite a bit longer! I dont have the time to do a full legit rebuild because this is my only car. Would It be smarter to get it re ringed and go or I have a source on a low mileage 2000 626 motor that I could swap in a day.....kinda stuck need help deciding!

How do you know your turbo seals are good?

Get a cheap junk yard motor to swap in for now then rebuild the one you have now when you have money

if you are sure your turbo seals are good then do a dry and wet compression test. that will help you find out if it is your rings

I was planning on Doing that this weekend. My valve seals are also leaking but those don't really make your car smoke whole driving only on cold start up. As far as turbo seals, there isn't any oil residue in my intercooler pipin and just because I feel at 60k on the turbo they shouldn't be bad.

ok dry test should come out to 155-175 psi across the board. if any lower then try putting a tablespoon of clean engine oil in each cylinder and try the wet comp. test and if the pressure is higher than before then your compression rings are worn.

Also do you know of any company that makes valve sealsnthe correct size for our cars that are cheaper than the oem 160 seals? Ive called part stores and they can get me valve seals for 60 bucks and say that the exhaust and intake seals are different part numbers and are made by felpro any experience with these?

agree ^ if you're going to spend the time and effort you might as well get quality products and do it right the first time.

I'm like 99.7 percent sure its from the valve seals! When I bought the car in March I was in engine rebuilding and took the opportunity re do the timing belt water pump tensioner belts head gasket and valve seals, but little did i know that the valve seals from aftermarket companies were wrong and i found out this amazing news after everything was put back together haha so Now that I'm working full time and really don't have access to a proper garage/shop I haven't had the time or money (no money due to paying for wedding stuff), OH forgot to mention I also did do a dry and wet compression test the numbers didn't change much but they did change so I knew the rings were a little worn....buuuuuut I should be able to do my seals before the end of october!

154 I think dry and around 162 wet! Not an insane difference but there is a difference!

thats expected. your psi will be higher on a wet test for the reason that the oil is making a better seal. sounds like the rings are not a problem as of now.

yeah, i figured the other day it was smoking while driving just because i didnt let it sit and burn and smoke after it sits for a while.....I just need to do the valve seals, but i'll be ordering my molnar rods soon, and hopefully by spring have enough for the seals and weisco pistons, so itll be getting a nice refresh along with an ssafc
