Opinion: my friend's project Integra

Looks like a cool project. Actually, it looks like ass, but as a few people have said, that's not the point. :)

May I ask why an Integra was chosen for this project? Seems like there are a lot of comparably-priced but more suitable cars for this type of project.

Slits, winglets...:) whatever you want to call them, purpose still the same.

Actually the idea is to create downforce. By angling the wing down-to-up, air pressure increases on top of the structure and decreases underneath, simple aerodynamics. As a result, airflow is directed up and outward never getting a chance to cross over the brakes. It would actually hinder brake cooling. The reason I doubt their effectiveness is the size. They aren't really big enough to do anything significant, positive or negative.

It could offer some downforce, but not alot to do anything. And they still look like cuts in the bumper cover that have some plastic shielding placed behind them. But picture is kinda of crappy to tell, yet you can sorta of see pavement behind them.

Agree though the overall cooling effectiveness is probably very little.

canards, winglets, downforcers....the guy isnt seeing high speeds on the autox track so they need to go. the hood is pretty tacky too.

those tegs are great cars though...he seems like he's got the suspension pretty worked out, at least up front. drop a gsr engine in there and he'll be set.

so, in my opinion, stock exterior would have looked better than what he has now, but suspension-wise...good times.

hey...when you're broke you gotta make what you have work.

they are actually downforcers, so-to-speak. Yeah, I doubt they have much practical application either, but they are mostly for fun. Oh well. He actually Autocrosses now, which you can see on www.vmsc.org, I think. Yeah, well Daryl is all about dropping un-needed weight, not looks. OBVIOUSLY. LOL. The Integra has always been good to him, so far, and I got to say...it is one tough machine.

Hey Rob and everyone else perplexed by those little downforcer thingies...

...I sopke to Daryl today, and he says that they really have no practical application, save that they direct air onto the brake rotors when he is turning. I just like to think: "Daryl, your car has wings; it can almost just fly away!" The ongoing joke is that if his car had wings big enough, it could probably leave the ground, it weighs so little.

LOL(rofl)

I stand corrected:D
I'm still on the fence, but I guess the lower air pressure would cause cool air to rush in on a turn.
