Opinion: Interior Paint Job

Hey guys, I want to know what you think about my interior paint project in progress. Here are some pix of whats done so far:

Pending Additions
*Stereo Cover Surround - Black/Silver (If i can figure out how to get it off)
*A-Pillars F/R - Black
*Seat Belt Cover Molding - Black
*Darken Existing Black Pieces (?) possible...

I welcome your opinions as well as advice for what else I should do (cabpatch). Thanks a lot!

Thanks! I was modeling it after the p5/MP3 stock coloring. The color is matched to sunlight silver so it gives it that effect.

looks good! I've thought about doing that to my p5 with 22v as well.

Just be sure to use an acrylic sealer or clearcoat as the topcoat. Otherwise it'll degrade the durability and it'll give it a tacky matte look (tested it before clearcoating).

thanks. Did you wet sand any of it?

Just the cupholder assy. The smooth surface wouldn't take the paint too well. The vinyl switch plates and e-brake surround are already porous and cracked due to design so no sanding was needed. Material is too soft anyway.


Oh BTW: They reposessed my Dreadsteed! lol(silly)

man i want to do this to my protege. Im thinking about doing the center console like yours, then the black plastic above the steering wheel around the gauges, and finally the radio surround.

yeah thats cuz people try to paint the pieces white, yellow, red, blue or some other bright ass color

When I read the title of the post, I said to myself, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

See, I made the mistake on painting the ENTIRE interior of my Integra. I learned through trial and error that sometimes heat can make things melt and sticky.... yeah..... enough of that

But yeah, looks great!! Might I ask what products and prep you are using?
Did you paint the silver only, or the silver and the black?

I did that in my old stique well the door panels anyways and didnt properly clean all the armor all off and well it looked good but was tacky. I ended up getting new door panels as they were still tacky several months later with then sitting outside in the sun.

Just painted the silver. Stock ES black interior. I'm using Duplicolor Charcoal Silver acrylic spray with Duplicolor plastic primer. Pretty much just lightly sanding with super-fine sanding sponge, laying the primer and then spraying the color (2 coats).

Mazdawarbird... your door levers look chrome... do you , by any chance, have the part number to those... been looking for a set of those.

Dunno the part numbers, but the handles are stock for the 2001 ES model. Should be able to find them from the dealer.

Looks good Mazdawarbird. Like others have said painting the interior can be very tricky. I tried on my ebrake and quickly pulled the plug before I really screwed things up.

You did a good job pulling it off. Quality technique and not over done with color or amount. Heres to longevity and durability of your new interior look.

I am using an automotive grade acrylic clearcoat. Multiple layers for a smooth feeling finish
