well i have a friend that has an 07 ms3 so one of these days my bright briends had an idea to disconect there exhauxts before the cat first the accord did this then th civic si and ms3 got talked in to this so im wondering is this a smart idea to do he has the exhauxe disconnected befor the cat so like an open dp is this a good gain or bad ??

what is it some boost controlled dump valve.....too much damn work. thats just so gay. Leave that s*** to honda's and ricers alike. Straight out of the DP will be loud as all hell and you will spike and creep boost more than likely. Get a proper exhaust.

There are gains to be had open with an downpipe, but using an electric cutout is the best way to do that. For track use only of course, because otherwise it's just obnoxiously loud for no reason.

this little k04 turbo does not need an open DP to get gains out the ass, put on a dp/rp combo hooked up to the stock cbe and there are great gains with an easier installation and less moving/working parts and more driveable

my post was supposed to be a joke, with a few random google'd pictures...

But what the OP is describing... Get a y pipe welded in, and if anything, just put a bolt on cover on it. Unbolt it before you go somewhere if you want to be annoying, bolt the cover back on if You want to be low profile.

What ever works for you bro.

I'm just gonna chop up my DP and run it and a screamer pipe I'll custom fab out of the hood of my car.... :dodgy:

I don't really see how this would be beneficial in this case. Just get a test pipe or high flow cat or something. The only place you can even put a cutout would be after the second cat...there's no room to put it anywhere else before that.

The stock CBE isn't really all that restrictive, so there isn't much to gain by bypassing it (other than sound maybe)
