Question... When you all got your MZ3 did it come with one or two keys? They gave me one key at the dealership and two keyless remotes and told me that I would get another key in the mail. Well, I called them today and they said that the MZ3 only came with one key and that if I want to order another it will cost $100 to get one made. So, did you get one or two keys?

Would think any car would have two keys. Are the M3 keys special in anyway, or just the basic standard keys that you find for most cars?

They "may" come with just one, and most dealers just throw in a second one as part of buying the car. If so it is chitty that they are charging you for a second key. All cars should come with two keys, these aren't high end exotics here.

I got two keys with my car. And most cars now come with 2 keys when you buy the car, and considering that if they have the second key to your car, all they have to do is show up to your house and use it, cause that key has the chip in it and it will make the car start.

Two keys, absolutely.

Usually cars come with three keys: two regular plus a valet. I was surprised that my Mazda3 came with only two keys. When I asked, the dealer said that the Mazda3 only comes with 2 regular keys and no valet key. I confirmed this with others on one of the other Mazda3 forums.

So it should come with two keys.

im gonna say go to walmart or you're local hardware store..you can get a key made for under 2$ but some of are you saying there's a special "chip" in the key...if so can you guys explain a little more..thanks (gonna be getting mazda3 hatch back next month)

You can't go to Walmart to have a key like this one made. You have to go to your dealership. Well, you can go to Walmart, but you'll only be able to unlock your doors and trunk. To start it, you need the chip inside the key (the black plastic part).

...thats a very nice feature..that will sure stop stealing alot..also a question..do these cars come with alarm system..and how good are they?

well for sound the alarm is kinda dull but it has a engine immobillizer which is good and the only anti-theft device recongized by the insurance bureau of canada which works (insurance discount)....the chip in the key is what deactivates the immob.

Hope that helps

friggin' dealers trying to jack you...go back to your dealership and demand that they give you another key for free. if they don't, call up Mazda NA. they shouldn't be ripping you like that. $100 !?!? that's gotta be one helluva fancy key to be 100 bucks
