One More BEGI owner Update!

So FM: How close are you to a kit with bigger injectors and no FMU?

One note - if you have a direct question for us, email is far superior to posting to the third page of a chatty thread. keith@flyinmiata.com .

It's unlikely we'll have an alternate fueling setup for months. It's too early in the process to even give estimates. We're trying an approach we haven't tried before, reprogramming the stock ECU. That will take some time.

Those with leaks in the oil return - make 100% sure there are no kinks or flat spots in the line itself.

After taking the turbo off again (I'm good at it now!), I found that the gasket wasn't centered correctly causing a gap. This time, I put Permatex RTV Copper on the drain plate itself, and centered the gasket. It is now sitting for an hour. I don't want that sucker to move when I re-attach it to the turbo. Then I will tighten that down, and let that sit for some time. I hope that fixes the problem, caus I have work for the next 4 days!

The oil leak appears to be fixed!!! I drove into work, and no oil is dripping from below off the intercooler pipe like before! This is sweeet!:D

By the way, that section of hose connector, and the constant torque clams that FM sent me, they work so great. The hose connector coming from the turbo to the IC connector pipe is longer than the ones that came with the BEGI kit by at least an inch..maybe and inch & 1/2! When I re-installed the IC pipe after cleaning off all the oil, it linked right up, and reached the turbo with no problem. I have already informed Keith of my experiences with this length of hose connector, and this is what will ship with the FM kit. If any of you BEGI kit owners are having issues with the IC pip just not reaching far enough up to the turbo, I suggest you replace your connecting hose with what FM sent me.

maybe this thread should be a sticky so when anyone else gets there kit they can just ad name.. just a thought and it keeps other people(like me i cant wait i will have enough money by the end of december w/x-mas bonuses) that are getting the kit, so we can see how everyone that has the kit is doing..:D

True, but after a thread gets too deep after awhile, people who didn't keep up with it the whole time won't want to read through the whole thread. Making a new thread every few weeks is better.

Well as far as my situation goes-- The Ping Ithought I heard might just be my FP Gauge acting up under the hood. First I'm going to test it by running no boost at all... Then I'm going to test it once again after I re-route the feul line w/ no gauge.

I'm guessing it's the gauge though. Loud shiz.

Yay! Now I'm on my way to 3 inch piping, no cats at all, and at least 7psi.

;)

You might find this interesting - we did a bunch of testing on Friday with 2.5" and 3.0" exhausts on a Miata making about 245 whp. The 3.0" didn't make any more power. There just wasn't enough airflow. I'll be doing a full writeup for it at some point soon.

Keith

Kieth- Do you mean 3.0 didn't make mroe power than 2.5 or 2.25?

I'm upgrading from 2.25 to 3.0... Also, did the miata have Cats?

:)

This has been discussed before. However I realized gains from upgrading from 2.5 to 3 inch. I will try to find the post. It was something like 8whp

2.5 is optimum for the miata but the Spoolin has seen better with 3 on the Protege. I doubt 2.25 will be exctract all the power of the turbo.

Funny, the Miata guys swear that 2.5" isn't big enough. Just reporting our findings. We saw a larger difference between different makes of muffler than we did from the piping diameter. One of our 3" setups had no muffler at all, so that wasn't a restriction. Sounded awful.

My statement was a result of what I have seen and heard from the Fm site and in talking with Bill and in no way my own experiences.
