One Hour Three Minutes and Three Seconds

Matthews thread about failed marriage and the other heartbreak stories that are all over the place in this forum reminded me why I'm single. I wanted to show people how much fun life is when you are happy to be yourself. I've been in relationships, usually no longer than a few months - but I remain close with most of the girls I have dated - and I still hang out with most of them regardless of whether or not they have a boyfriend, fiancee, or husband.

I just wanted to point out how there is a happy medium. Just because you are single doesn't mean you have to lie to girls and run game. I'm single - and I don't do the "player" thing - I simply am honest with girls as to my intentions. Below is an IM I had with a friend of mine who I just recently started talking to again. Of course, out of courtesy (and to eliminate any possible drama) I have replaced all the names of people involved with a simple letter.

Hey man, it's kewl - you are human after all. Trust me, I know what you mean. I have girls like that too. No two girls are the same - neither are any relationships. Trust me, there are a few girls in my past - that still mess up my head pretty good. But I get through it, because the happiness that I feel when we are together is worth it. Sometimes it's just lunch, or a movie, othertimes it's a massage, a quicky, just some fooling around - or a few hours in bed tearing each other apart because we can. The privacy is important and trust is a big issue.

I'm not opposed to relationships - I just don't default to them like most people do.

Oh, and for the person looking for cliff notes - read it or don't. Aw, what the **** - here's the short version. Friends are good - don't burn bridges - keep an open mind - you'll get laid more often and have less drama. Also never think of it as "being the other man" just realize that you are just "a man" in a situation with the consent of the person you are with at that moment.
