On the verge of purchasing a CX-9....

We are almost ready but have a few reservations. I have been reading the forum like crazy tonight and appreciate any input.

First, we are owners of a Buick Enclave with dual sunroofs, DVD, leather, second row captain's chairs, etc. For the most part, we have been happy with the Enclave. I would just prefer a vehicle with a back-up camera and would like to get back into something a bit sportier.

Do headrest DVDs work well? I have three children, so I am hoping that might solve the problem of "I don't want to watch what he's watching." Even still, I am very disappointed that I cannot get a factory sunroof and DVD together. Has this worked well for anyone? I saw some old posts from 2007 but nothing in 2010.

I haven't read much positive info about the CX-9 Navi system. I LOVE Onstar turn-by-turn navi on the Enclave, except for the extra expense. Do you have to pull over everytime you need new directions? The salesman doesn't have a lot of experience with the Navi.

Do your third row passengers get enough cool air? We are in Texas and it gets HOT. And, can three kids, two in boosters only, fit in the middle? I know it would be tight, but I would occasionally like to be able to fold down the third row.

Finally, the 0% incentive is a huge factor in our decision. That is just too good to pass up. For those that have used Mazda financing, have you liked it?

Thanks so much!

I will answer what I can:

The A/C in the 3rd row is dependent on the vents that are on the back of the center console. So you have to point the vents upward if you want to get A/C to the 3rd row. Because of this I would call the 3rd row cooling adequate and not stellar. This is only for A/C because there are heat vents for the 3rd row underneath the 2nd row seats.

I would take your car seats to the dealer and see if they will fit in the 2nd row. It really depends on how wide your car seats are. My daughter is almost ready to go from car a seat to a booster so I will be in your situation soon (2 boosters and 1 car seat). I think they will fit but I'm not sure.

I believe you have to be stopped to input an address into the NAV. I'm really moving away from factory NAV systems since most of them aren't that great. My android phone has free Google NAV so I don't need a factory NAV system. Just my thoughts.

I can answer the HEadrest DVD, as we had that installed. The only problem we have w/ the Headrest DVD is that the 3rd row can not necessarily see it well unless they remove the 2nd row headrest. But other than that it was worth it. We paid $400 OTD for system w/ 4yr warranty.

Satisfied with our 2009 CX9!

I don't believe you can go wrong with this vehicle. We have had ours for just over a year and a half and it seems to be "bullet-proof" mechanically and every other way as well. We have put on over 37K miles and just replaced the OE Bridgestones with the highly recommended Yohama Parada Spec X tires. They are so far superior to the original I can't believe it! As for the heat/cooling system for the third row passengers, it is as stated before adequate. The dvd system has been perfect for our granddaughters constant viewing of NEMO. We learned that putting the headset near her headrest is perfect, plus that way you other folks onboard don't have to hear it at all! All in all we feel we got the best bang for our buck! This car was preceded by a BMW X5 and it is holdingup to comparisons, left and right. by the way, the performance of the V6 is terrific! I love driving with the tranny in the "M" mode. Just like having a stick again, without the tiresome clutch! Keep us informed on your final choice.

I have two car seats in the middle row, one a booster and one of the infant 5 point harness seats and my wife can fit rather comfortably in between them in the second row. She's only 5'4, so your little one should be just fine between two booster seats.

We bought a cheap little set of two 7" headrest monitors that just strap onto the back of the headrests. They've worked amazingly well for us. It makes the drive sooo much better having them plugged in. They don't get to watch TV a lot, so it's a novelty for them to be able to watch 4 hours of tv at a time when we go camping. Some people say they're flying death traps, but I strap them on pretty good and I don't see how they would go flying off. Plus I didn't want to shell out another $400 putting in the nice ones after buying the car. Maybe down the line I would like to get some. They would definitely be a lot cleaner w/out cords going everywhere.

As far as the NAV is concerned you do have to be going less than 5 mph to change your destination...
