On the verge of a P5 purchase, however...

The one here at the dealership is an autostick, its actually the one I test drove before I bought mine.lol
They want just above 15k with a sticker of 20k. For anyone who is interested.

There is a dealer around my area advertised $6750 off MSRP off their P5 in today's newspaper... but there is only 4 left there....

I paid more just a couple of weeks ago but I got all the options I wanted...

yeah...;)

Can I ask what dealer had it advertised for $6750 off? The cheapest I saw in today's Mercury News was $5500 off. Thanks.

Its Royal Motor Sales down at San Francisco.... I found their ad in San Francisco Chronicle with '5 at this savings'. If you are interested, go to www.mazdausa.com and check their inventory. Find the one you like and go in and insist that you want to buy the particular one with the sale price they advertised.

It works for me at another nearby dealership when they advertised '2 at this savings'. :D

My first P5 had over 700 km on it and they were trying to sell it as new. After I traded it in, the new one had only 34. I felt much better about that.

143 miles is nothing. it was most likely traded in from another dealer. check the window sticker for which dealer it was originally shipped to. if not a dealer trade then ask, but most likely test drives. don't worry about it. mine had 360 miles on it when i got it. you guys who think that more than 10 miles is bad are 1st class morons. most cars arrive off the truck with more than that. :)

Mine had 173 miles on it. But I wasn't going to complain because it was the only one in the area with the options I wanted (and that was way back in February). I told them 5spd, ABS, Moonroof, and Laser Blue. I ended up with Leather as well, which was well worth it.

The warrantee takes into account the 173 miles so if something happens at 100,172 miles in less than 6 years, I'm covered (yes I opted for the extended warrantee...I don't plan on paying for repairs and I've already got 18,000 miles on it)

Those miles were most likely from moving the car between dealerships and maybe a couple employees taking the car out on their lunch break. Its nothing that you won't do in the first day or two you own the car. Just make sure you look over the car very carefully for parking lot dings...the bumpers, the doors, etc. Mine had a dent in the rear hatch when I went to pick it up...I made them fix it.

Thanks for posting about Royal's ad, James. Marina matched the discount tonight and my girlfriend got a loaded silver 2003.5 for $6250 off the MSRP. She couldn't get the last $500 Royal advertised because she's been out of college for so long. I think it was a crazy deal. Before we saw that ad we were only hoping for $5500 off.

Yeah. Dealers do this all the time - they check their database of cars and swap vehicles with another if it means getting that sale. I don't know if this is "corporate mandated cooperation" or just something the dealers know is good business practice.

When I bought my CR-V in Charleston, there were 3 of them on the lot from Myrtle Beach. At the time, they were hard to come by and there was a lot of trading between dealers.

Trading cars is not required. Some dealers will do it, some won't. It's always on a case by case basis. When I bought my car there were some dealers my dealer said would not trade cars. My car was bought by the dealer. The other dealer wanted cash, not another car.
