On my 2nd Turbo and again starting to see some smoke..normal?

Ok so I've already had to replace my first turbo like 6 months ago because its started smoking like a mofo but reciently i've noticed some smoke when I downshift and floor it. Its not much but noticable. Is some smoke normal to come out when you floor the engine(or any turbocharged engine) or it it looking like the turbo is gonna go bad soon? I have about 36,000 miles.

its not likely the seals. Its probably from being either overly rich, or a PCV problem.

Maybe wrong viscosity oil? Two turbos going bad is strange. I don't think I've heard of two. Maybe one.

Do some research......Yes the car runs rich. Yes it slightly release smoke during WOT, with exhaust mods it will be more noticible. If ur car smokes like a 'Mofo" again, then new turbo. You shud buy Accessport or Dashhawk to check for knock and things of that nature. Welcome.

I'd say some smoke under hard acceleration is 100% normal especially since these cars run so rich (as evidenced by the sooty tailpipes).

i run penzoil platinum 5w30 fully syntec and it gets no smoke. i used to but after i switched from mobile 1 all my smoke went away even under WOT. try that. good luck

I run castrol syntec 5w30 and I put 5.75 qts. I only see it sometimes under wot and have never seen it any other time. I've also seen a couple ms3's in front of me on the road that have spit out a little puff or two of smoke too. Thats why I wonder if a little is normal.

Yah it is, rich between shifts, usually means VTA bov likely to occur also.

my friends MS3 100% stock smokes(low miles) under hard accel.. unburnt fuel

The PCV system and turbo oil drain line are suspect at best... PTP is working on these issues. In time I think we will finally have this figured out and have the fixes available.
