OMG, I just came home with a 2!

Thanks to everybody for the welcome!

Just did my first thing for the car - got an XM radio receiver and had the antenna installed. XM was the one thing I really couldn't live without that was in my old car. It took longer to activate the unit on the phone than the installation did!

I like how it fits in this spot. I just wish the buttons lit in red instead of white, maybe something can be done about that...

i have the exact same one in the exact same spot. haha

Not much of a mod, but I stuck this cheap-ish B&M on the car. I'll get something nicer later, but the stock one really didn't agree with me. This matches the leather of the wheel pretty well, though. It's lighter by a little than the stock one, which makes the shift a little more notchy and "mechanical" feeling, but I actually don't mind it as it now feels a lot like my old Miata.

The real news is that I'm getting a tentative mod list put together. This is in the order that I'm thinking I'll do them.

-Corksport Torsion Bar. (At $100 for this much gain, it's a no-brainer.)
-Corksport SRI. (Another cheap mod with good gains.)
-Racing Beat springs. (After driving my friend's M2 in the canyons, the first thing I said was "this car would do great with 20% stiffer springs", and that's exactly what the RBs have. Around 1" drop is all I wanted as well, so they're good in that regard too. I want to feel like my car is stock when I'm daily driving it.)
-15x7 Wheels, maybe TRMotorsport C1. (Relatively light, cheap, and look good. Have to wait until I move, I have no storage space for the stock ones right now.)
-195/50/15 high perormance tires. Undecided brand. (195 seems like the sweet spot for this car.)
-Corksport catback. (Nice sound, decent price, decent gains, not too loud.)
-Shocks (Not sure if I'll need them with these springs and how I'll be driving but I'll probably get some eventually.)
-Hawk HPS pads. (Gotta upgrade brakes.)

Back burner/maybe stuff-
-Stubby Antenna
-Nicer shift knob
-In-dash Nav. (My big thing is that it has to look factory, and none of the current solutions do.)
-Side skirts
-ECU tune

That's all that's at the top of my head right now.

Nice heavy metal ball knob. It's a bit bigger than a golf ball, for size reference. The gap isn't really an issue, it's only visible from the angle of the side pic. Having this much weight this low makes shifting really nice. I'm thinking of maybe getting an extension to bring it up a tiny bit higher, though. I wish there was like a 1" one available.

my mz3 got totalled on the 23rd :'( so ive been lookin for a new car. I test dorve the mazda 2 and the first thing i asked after the test drive was was "do ya have one in green?" lol Havent bought it yet but its a matter of time.....tomorro maybe :P anyways that shift knob would look awesome with the a/c knobs that FOnt Motorsports is selling here: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123811591-For-Sale-Font-Motorsports-AC-DIALS&highlight= Keep it up dude!

I was thinking the same thing about the AC dials. I wasn't sure about the stainless steel on them cause it didn't match anything else in the car but now that I have the shift knob I think they'll work.

The green is really great. I like it and I get pretty good feedback from the ladies on the color.

I won't deny that it's got a coolness to it. For me, though, there's only one lady whose opinion matters, and she hates it. I like driving around in something that doesn't stand out too much, though, and when I go bright, I'm more into blue or red. I really like the red we have on this car, but I don't need to attract any more tickets...

Funny, silver is my favorite color for the 2, but since I've got my kids in the car half the time I got green because it DOES stand out and is more visible on the road. Too many inattentive drivers out there! It also happened to be my second favorite color, and already got me a speeding ticket.
