older 3000gt vr4's

thanks for all the info...
i was reading up on them...they are very heavy and maintainence isnt exactly cheap...but i still think they are cool. Oh well, I guess I'll just go to plan B...Kia Rio..

Before you go to plan B, check out the site I have up on my previous post... www.3si.org

It will really give you all the info that you need, and you'll find plenty of parts and tech tips there. It's been around for a few years now, so the people on the boards know what they're talkin about. If you're worried about the weight, there is a big list of all things you can remove to get rid of the extra weight. I wouldn't worry about reliability, because like I said, my Stealth has 165k on it, and it's running strong. But, I'm bias... I own one and I love it. I guess it also hurts my credibility that the Stealth is/was my first car. But it's your call really. Like I said, I'm bias.

Maybe a stealth would be more affordable...

They are by a good amount. However, make sure you get at least the 200hp engine or the Twin Turbo, the base engine is a pretty major dog, 150?hp in a 3800lbs car. ouch.

I had a '93 Stealth R/T AWD AWS and I must say it was the second fastest car I've ever been in (after a Viper). I had a manual boost controller, straight 3 in exhaust with a gutted cat, and a K&N filter and I pushed 400hp. I ran 12.9 @107 at 3700lbs. Now the last year for AWS, electronic exhaust, and 5-speed (and Active Aero only 3000GT's) was '93. The cars were 300hp factory (320hp after '93 and 6-speed) at 8-9 lbs of boost. The factory gauge showed 14 psi but it was wrong (I hooked an autometer). I ran my car at around 16 psi and it was very hard on the engine and 5k launches are tranny killers as I dropped mine. I could beat just about anything on the streets with that car (I even beat a Ferrari). Fun car but very heavy and expensive to replace parts. Oh yeah I switched to '94 rims after I bought it.
