anyways... so about 3 months ago.. i was born in to the Mazda world ... honestly i never expected to be driving a mazda.. i really wasnt.. but i some how came acrros this beautiful speed 6. blah blah blah i got the car. anyways enough with the life story.. just thought i should mention that since it was my first car( im 18 ) and this is my first post/thread.

Okay so my car is stock.

ive been looking in to an intake ( and yes i kno this isnt the right place to be posting this but anyway....) but yea my dealership basically told me that if i get an aftermarket intake which in my case would be a CPE CAI then that would void my warranty. the only way is if i bought a factory intake http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/spee...yDetail.action
theres ur link and you can look at it... and i dont know what you guys think thats y im asking if that intake is even any good cuz i heard the cpe cai is really good. so thats 1 question that i would like to discuss.

2nd question...

now im not fully sure about this but i believe our stock HID are what like 4300k or something(correct me in im wrong) but yea i kind of want to upgrade me to like 6000k or something... and i also want to do my highbeams also since halogans dont really match the HID which is kinda gay. but yea. thats my 2nd questions which is what HID do you think i should get and from where. both high beams and day time running lights

and by the way... give me your opinion on what you think about these cuz i want to get this for my car.

thanks

Sorry to hear your dealer is mod unfriendly. Your link was broken so I am going to assume it was meant to link to the mazdaspeed CAI. Unless things have recently changed I am fairly sure it is still out of production. That CAI is actually a rebadged AEM CAI, but most dealers don't seem to know that and will not support the AEM if they are taking a hard line on mods. Sounds like your only real option is to add a CAI or SRI of your choosing and return it to stock if you ever have to go to the dealer. Just make sure to not throw out your stock parts. Don't ever give them the impression that you changed anything or you risk a hard fight getting your warranty back if they decide to void it. There are laws that require them to prove an aftermarket part caused a failure and keeps them from being able to void your warranty for silly reasons, but that doesn't mean they won't try.

As for the lighting, I can't comment on the HID swap since in Vegas I almost don't need headlights (let alone hi beams). I remember an interesting thread about an LED swap that had some recommendations on various lights http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123720852 hope that helps some.

welcome to the boards. most dealers are gonna be a pita about mods. what many people do is remove them before going in for any service.

and please do not double post ;)

I'm pretty sure you can't replace high beams with HID, but you could probably look into getting some xenon-match bulbs if you really want them to match closer. Since they're hardly ever on, the stock bulbs are fine with me. The parking lights (or DRLs) on the other hand, are always on with the headlights, so they are worth a change. You can follow the link in Myriad's post above to my LED replacement post.

hey wannabe my bad about the double post bra. thanks tho.
hope the car on ur sig is really urs cuz mines excatly the same

i dont mean like replice the high beans but like wen they are on at nite. you have ur hids that are some what blue and then you have ur standard bulbs that are on that look ugly do you kno what i mean

oh gawd... dont say bra lol
but welcome to the forum, everyone is usually super helpful on here

Yeah, you can swap your hi beam and fog bulbs to a closer color match so everything looks consistent. In the electronics section there is a sticky listing all the bulb types in the car so you know what size to look for. OJ Bartley's thread I linked to has all the info about the color matched LEDs to replace your running lights (and exactly where to get them) which will make the front of your car look 100% better at night.

You can replace the low beams with D2S bulbs, since they are already HIDs from the factory, and install any color you like. For the high beams, you'll want to get a full kit, 55w, and install if you so desire them. I'd personally save the money on the high beams and match your fogs to the same HID intensity as your low beams. If you upgrade the lows to 6000k, then get the matching 35w 6000k kit for the fog lights (H11 bulb type). Some might argue that you can go with a 55w kit, but I wouldn't want my fogs to overpower my low beams personally.

Hopefully this helps, enjoy your time here!

Yes, RPM Store. www.therpmstore.com I've had very good results with them, and they have great customer service. A set of replacement D2S bulbs ($55) and a set of 35w H11 HID fog light kit ($100) would be a nice set. Pull your front bumper off and install them all at the same time, tuck the ballasts up nice and neat, and you'll be all set.

I like the way they look, but don't really see them being useful. I put the PIAA white LEDs in my parking lights, and those look cool and are a lot less. I don't like the idea of cracking open my headlamp personally.
