now on to something for you to think about. communism... yep. that was a godless, humanistic, equal social theory. however, like all other theories in socialism, it did not work in practice. look at china's 'inquisition' in tibet. do you think that has religious significance? sure it does. millenia old tibetan buddhist doctrine and temples have been destroyed in the name of a godless, egalitarian state. now i ask you, what is the significance of religion? but your argument that religion has caused great harm, i.e. the crusades and the inquisition can also be refuted with the fact that a seemingly godless entity who is living for the here and now has caused the mass exodus of a whole country.
What's next? My dad can beat up your dad ? Anyone can find a historical reference to refute someone elses claim, but the truth is that modern religion, much like communism, only works in theory. Religion gained the level of saturation that it did because it was a good method of keeping the masses in line by promising them something that no one had to deliver on. Leave all the thinking to us and you will have a better life later on, just make sure you live by our rules.
I have some measure of respect for people who choose a religion on their own (I still don't understand them), but I don't understand the need to force beliefs on others. Yes, I am referring to people who go door to door.
Enough of my rant. Not an attack on anyone, just my unorganized thoughts on the subject (?).
