seems kind of high........they probably paid 6-8.5 at most for the trade.......

i paid under 17 for my P5 new back in 12/31/02 and it had leather, 6 disc changer, moonroof.......it was retail 18,200???????

mine stickered at around 22k. paid under 21 with extended warranty after taxes etc out the door. got it at invoice and 2k cash back.

leather, 6 disk, moon roof, cross bar, moon roof wind deflector, abs/ebd, side airbags, polished wheels, polished caps, wheel locks, free sub, cargo net. dont recall what else.

if you say...oooh cargo net yaka yaka...it's a great tool. not to mention when i bought it at purchase of car, I got THAT at invoice as well.

if you're gonna do that, at least part some of it out cuz the dealers dont care about mods, they'll still only give you blue book value at most.

Already been done .. its almost completely stock at this point

I paid less than $17 for my loaded 03.5 P5. Sticker was $19,6. Moonroof, polished wheels, leather, roof rack, sub, 6 disc, etc, etc. As I recall the only major option mine didn't have was the auto-dim mirror.

I think the average '03 with 30k miles would sell for around $10k in very good condition.

I think I payed around $16k for mine 03.5 new maybe alittle less but I got the base model: Standard CD player, no moonroof, no leather, manual, no roof rack. I do have the sub but i think that came on all 03.5's.

I'd say $10k is a very reasonable price to pay for an 03 at this point.

I'm in Torrington. The car is at Modern Mazda in Thomaston.
I'm definately going to try talk them down on the price quite a bit and if they don't budge I'll definately walk. I will check on that recall as well.
TORRINGTON WHAT WHAT!!! I live in Thomaston. There are 3 proteges in thomaston that are on this site. KanseiZM who lives in thomaston has a 2003 protege5 and it's really hooked up with all kinds of goodies. Just letting you know that if you do need some mazda aftermarket support buddies they are only a couple miles down route 8. I don't drive a mazda but I'm still poking around here too. Just so you know, I think KanseiZM paid less than the asking price of the P5 you are looking at more than a year ago on his protege 5 that had less than 15k on the odometer. Modern Motors has a long history of inflating prices. I know i've looked at cars on their lots and they are overly pricey. I say you negociate down the price.

I got mine exactly a year ago for 10k with 38k miles (2002)

Thats about how much I got mine for about 36K miles on it for 10,500 but after Gap insurance and extended warranty it was like 12

13k is an absolute rip off. I bought mine like two years ago with 12k miles on it for $10,500. I wouldn't pay more than $10k.

Wow, I guess I will have my work cut out for me to get the price down, I won't hold my breath on it though.

There are plenty of P5's in the ocean.

I got my Protege5 two weeks ago for 7K, it had 86K miles on it but otherwise very clean and excellent condition.(stoned)

I paid $13,598.00 plus tax and license back in 12-2002. Its an 03 and only had 22 miles on it. :)

Nah, just hold your ground. Sales is a game. You want the lowest price, they want the highest price. The goal is to compromise. Have an idea of what you want to pay, offer lower than that and hagle up to your number. If you can, do as much of the negotiating online. It's faster and easier to cut deals. Nothing is worse than having to sit at a dealership. Ever notice how they leave you hanging out at their desk while they "prepare" your paper work? they're leaving you hanging to build a sense of urgency. Be cool, be firm. or be funny, but be firm. They're fixin' to grind on you all damn day, Cause when they see you, it's not Josh, it'$ their pay. So say what you mean, and mean what you say, cause if they don't drop, then you must walk away.

I bought mine for 14k with 20k miles on it. (leather etc) I traded it in 8 or so months later and they gave me 10k for it. Other dealerships offered me 8k for the trade in.

Definately talk them down.

Weeeerd. "I need to go to talk to my boss..." There was a time I fell for that :bs: hook, line, and sinker.

That seems high to me. Got my 2002 2 years ago with 24k miles for $11,500 in great condition.
