Oil Squirter Help

Does anyone know how to get the oil squirters out of the block. I am trying to get my motor rebuilt and nobody in my area has a clue on how to get them out. Any help would be much appreciated.

you have to heat them up, then crack them loose and u have to replace them when ur going to put them back in

The actual factory method from Mazda is to drill and tap them. Then thread bolt into them and use a slide hammer to pop them out. I used this method with a lot of modification and it took me forever. The last motor I rebuilt I didn't have to bore the cylinder so I just honed it out witht he squirters still in there. It works just fine since the piston rings don't go down farther than the honer can reach anyways. LinuxRacer has been running a turbo FS-DE without the squirters in for a long time now.

yeah some builders just plug them...I didn't have time to get mine out, for a bunch of reasons...some other guys took care of it for me, by tapping them, and using a bolt to plug them...but we then had to remove them for the boring, which was done for the second build...those same dudes worked for hours to get them out, and I saw the bastard squirters after they were on the table...needless to say they had seen better days...however they did it, it was rough...we just cut lengths of studs to fill the holes the seond time, which took a second tapping...

and I don't remember, but I thought we have press fit squirters stock...not threaded, which is why I agree with XelderX...I have never seen someone back them out by pressing a socket on there...This info could be flawed...This is the only part of the tear down that I didn't deal with, so I should probably figure out exactly what was done...

Andrew means to not replace them, but just plug the hole. This increases oil pressure and rod oiling, which the FS needs. Boig racing got a few hp at the wheels doing this also in their Miata. Oil squirters are only for piston cooling anyway, not as much of a big deal for NA.

I think the BP squirters must be different, because they just loosen like a bolt.

true...and when the piston speed really gets up there...the oil squirters really don't do much...they are mainly for cooling benefits at Max V.E., so right around 3500rpm or so...I can't remember what type of pressure valves ours have, but I thought they were mostly for that...

Some honda blocks however do have stepped squirters that are for high piston speeds...and they help a bit more than what we have...

Hi, my name is Ryan and I just registered to Mazda 247 because I wanted to let everybody know how easy it was to get the oil squirters out of the block, I got all four squirters out in about 20 minutes last night, I have a slide hammer that comes with an end piece that threads on to the slide hammer and has a hole for a Bolt on the other end of it, I slid the bolt through the end piece and welded the bolt onto this squirter, three or four strikes with the slide hammer and out it popped, then I cut the bolt off of the oil squirter and welded it back on to the next squirter and kept going until all four were out, use wet rags to protect your cylinder and bearing surfaces, easy money!!!

1) Take a chisel and take the nipple portion off.
2) 16mm impact socket, turn while using a pry bar
3) They'll come right out.
4) Drill and tap
5) Install M14 bolts in place
6) Done
