Oil pressure switch

First timer posting here.

My 03 protege5 is leaking oil, I have traced it to the oil pressure switch. I got the part and plan on doing this little job on my next oil change.

Is this a common problem?

Anything I should know before I mangle another piece of my car?

Any information helps. Thankya

i had a leaky one too, cheap part, my mechanics did it for next to nothing, i dont have the equipment to do it myself, nor ramps.

my car had 3 different leaks, all are now fixed, im just awaiting to replace my valves in the crank, burns oil like crazy

thanks guys. a pic would be awesome. or evan a person who has done this before(installed a oil pressure sendor 4 a gauge) could take a pic and post it up it would be great help :)

When you're under the car looking up at the oil filter it'll be to the left of the oil filter a bit- goldish round knurled looking bulb (when clean) with a wire connected to it.

im still confused... seems like we are describing the knock sensor

<---- runs out to take a look under the hood

Take the oil filter off first and give yourself a little more wiggle room, and I can attest it is an awkward bastard to get off.

@808mp5...the knock sensor you are thinking of is to the top left of the oil filter (top of cylinder 1)

The new one is 22mm. I bought the deep socket yesterday. It doesn't fit the oem switch. back to Autozone.

an adjustable should work fine...unless its rusted in there that bad.

Adjustable won't work in there, not enough room and the best place for an adjustable is the dustbin. Most of the time all you manage to do with an adjustable is round off the corners.
