Oil Pressure Guage - Sensor Attachment?

Hello,

I'm going over my Prosport Oil Pressure Guage instructions and I see I need to purchase a "sensor attachment". I was wondering if anybody knew the correct part for me to purchase...Are these things universal between cars? Thanks for the help!

Nothing? Really? Well...then can somebody point me to a tutorial on how to install an oil pressure gauge? I cannot find one for the life of me...only can find boost guage how-to...

Thanks

you will need the spin-on filter and this:

our mazda vendors carry both of these.

Or, you can add a T to the existing sensor at the front of the engine. There is a write-up somewhere in the How-To section.

yeah, they're pretty much universal, given your filter is spin-on. *not too familiar with proteges if you couldn't tell*

T-fitting is a easy way to do this too. the adapter just makes it look clean.

Do all mazda dealers carry them?

most aftermarket parts store should. ask for an oil sandwich plate, i bs you not lol.

So, you're telling me if I went with this oil sandwich plate, I would have to switch from the drop in filter, to a spin-on filter? What is recommended for the speed3?

Thank you for helping so much!!!!! I want to make sure I have everything prior to install!

You'd also need the spin-on filter conversion kit if you wanted to go the sandwich plate route.

Prosport sells a sandwich plate that includes the filter adapter for the protege ust FYI

and, that kit includes 4 ports as opposed to the one port posted above

a copper tube wouldn't void warranty?

If the tube broke and sprayed oil all over the place and you froze up your engine to lack of oil, probably. However, it is doubtful in any other situation.

The Oil Conversion Kit will void the warranty as it is a major change to the way the oil filtration works and you can bet they will point to that if you have ANY engine issues.

A tube coming out of where the oil sensor is suppose to be will bring up questions at the dealers. neither way is stock configuration. they'll give you trouble regardless. its not that hard to comprehend.

No doubt it will bring up a question but the relocation of an idiot light sensor is a lot different than changing the way your engine filters the oil. I doubt they would say anything about a simple relocation of an idiot light (which is all it is) if you had an engine failure (as long as the copper tube didn't break and cause your issue), but you can be guaranteed 100% that if your engine has ANY failure internally they will try and blame an oil conversion kit.

Your oil filter has direct impact on your engine. An idiot light sensor does not. That was my point.

Besides, it all depends on your dealer. I got over $3500 worth of warranty work done on my car WITH the mods you see and also a MBC/Map Clamp installed.

Though if you do have an oil conversion kit and you toss a Rod, then there will be no oil left so you can easily replace the canister :)

both have oil related duties. your copper line taps into a high oil pressure area. you don't think if there's engine failure, this wouldn't be one of the first thing they check also? and if you say they have to prove that was the cause of the failure than they would have to prove the spin-on also. its just an oil filter for c sakes. same as the mz3. spin-on does the same job as the canister. just accept your solution is not better and has the same outcome as the others.

An oil filter is there to FILTER your oil. They will say that your oil was not properly filtered or some crap as that. If you relocate, you're simply moving a SENSOR that has NOTHING to do with your oil or how it flows. Unless the copper line breaks, there is no way they can blame it. It's just an idiot light sensor, nothing more.

You are a complete idiot if you think they are the same man. Not only will the Oil Conversion change the way your oil is filtered, it also adds a whole additional quart of oil required which is MORE than the manual says. They will jump all over that in the case of an engine failure. They would not have to prove anything.

Basically, they MIGHT question the relocation, but you can be 100% sure they will NOT question the conversion kit, but simply void your Warranty.

So YES, my solution is 100000x better than a Conversion Kit solution. At least until your MAZDA warranty expires. Then I myself will do the Conversion as then I can change my own oil.

I'm not saying your solution is bad man. Just trying to inform people of the consequences of doing it. You can get all defensive all you wish, but the fact is that if you show up with a conversion kit and a blown motor you can be 100% sure your warranty would be voided. With a relocation it's highly unlikely. Unless of course you get one of those dealers that void warranties over things such as a boost gauge. :(

Who says? The cartridge filter platform I took off the motor had the same size oil passages as the spin-on conversion. The spin-on conversion is a Mazda part.

This may be true. Try convincing your service manager of that when they are looking for an excuse to void your warranty. Yes the spin on is a Mazda part. For another Car and not a Mazdaspeed 3.

If you guys actually think that replacing the canister with a spin on conversion will not cause you serious issues at the dealer, then I want some of what you're smoking.
