oil ontop of pistons?

The line on the bottom of the IM is the VICS line so if you did not remove the VICS then leave that check valve there. You can remove the other vac lines for the VTCS if you like, there is a T on the back of the IM for the VICS and VTCS sensors that I replaced with a single line just for the VICS.
 
any idea what that line on the bottom does?

If ur referring to the vacuum chamber check valve line, I'm pretty positive its so u have constant vacuum for stuff like brake booster under boost. Think about how ur brake pedal is still easy push when ur brake boosting. Somebody can confirm or correct me on that.
 
hmm well maybe i will see if mazda knows anything. doesnt seem to effect the driving of it.but maybe i just cant tell
