So after about 1000 miles on the new engine, I checked the oil and found that there was a noticable bit of oil missing. I looked underneath and found that there is a small oil leak. i jacked the car up and found where I think the leak is coming from. It looked like the oil was coming from one of the bolts on the bracket that held the passengers side cv axle to the block. Is that possible, as I did not know that the bolt holes webt anywhere near the inside of the block? So is there any possible way that oil is leaking from the axle bracket, or should i be looking higher around the fuel filter and sandwich plate?

Jack the car up a little, get under her and get a nice pic of said suspect area and it will be answered quickly

Alright so here is the pic. I believe the oil is leaking from the nut on the axle bracket, but is this possible? The leak is not coming from the oil pan or the windage tray, but somewhere above it. Please lemme know what yal think.

it might be the oil filter sandwhich bc mine has leaked a little ever since i switched to full synthetic and the oil comes down right through the axle bracket.

just remember if you can see the direct source just keep looking up until you see the leak lol, if you have to clean up the area with some brake clean and drive the car for a little bit and jack up the car again and it should be pretty evident where the oil is comming from

Yeah, I tried doing that but since I dont have a car lift and only have jack stands, accessability to the upper area of the engine is a task all of its own. I removed the IM arm from the rear of the block, but that did not help visibility one bit. I am VERY hesitant to pulll the axle, as that is just a pain in the ass.

I think what I might do is use my phone to take a video up in the area that is inaccessible, kind of like a probe. Hopefully that will do the trick. Did you ever get your oil filter samich sealed properly, and how did you do it?
