Oil Filter Motorcraft FL-400S new design

I stopped by Advance Auto Parts today and bought some oil filters. One was still the old design and the other two were marked "New Size Same Performance". The new filter is shorter, but has all the same labelling and part numbers.

Anyone else notice this or currently using the shorty? Thoughts?
