Had the 1st oil change buy a quicky place. Did the 2nd one myself and noticed that the drain plug does not have a gasket. Did the people at the shop loose it and forget to reinstall or is that the way it is? Vehicle is a '03 P5 w/ a auto trans. Thanks!

My 02 has a metal washer for for the drain plug that I replace every oil change. Just pick one up next time you change the oil.

Yes, their is a "crush" washer that you should change everytime you change your oil. You can get them at the dealer in a bag of five for a couple of bucks. I found out the hard way, (oil drain plug leak). I hope this helps. Also some guys here found something at Home Depot to use but I can't remember if it was metal or rubber.

The crush washer is a pain. Would like to know how much torque I finally had to put on it to get it to stop leaking.

Next time you are at your FLAPS ask for a nylon washer. I got a box of universal ones off the rack. One in the box was almost perfect fit. Have not seen a drop since and have done two changes with it.

Good luck.
