Oil change is $75 and every 10k?

They are $49 at my local dealership and they do a hand car wash.
Synth oil is $5+/qt. + the cost of the filter, DIY is probably $30 - $35.
The thrill of changing and disposing of oil is gone for me.

Buy Amsoil,do it once a year, and get twice the protection.

It is so often that an employee will fail to actually change the filter on a car that it creates an overstock in inventory and someone gets fired.
Employees learned to trash a new filter if they chose not to change the old one. If the oil filter is any trouble at all they probably will not change it.

They did tell me the engine needs Full Synthetic. That would make it more expensive.

If you have a garage at home or even know someone who does you have to be pretty crazy to pay 75 bucks for an oil change. You can pick up 5qt's of Mobil 1 at Costco for 30 bucks, a filter for 5. Do it yourself it 30-45 minutes at the most and save yourself 35 dollars each oil change.

Well I live in an apartment/condo so space is a concern. Time, tools, equipment, and disposal are also a concern. I would love to do it my self but not everyone CAN. An extra $35 for someone else to crawl under the car, get messy, and dispose of everything isn't THAT bad.

I'm unsure if I'm going to do the changes on this or not. I did them on my Miata, and still do on my wife's saturn, but they have the Fumoto valve, and it made it easier. I'll find out how hard the Filter is to get to, and if it's too much of a PITA I"ll let the grease monkeys do it, but I'll watch. If they don't want me to watch, I"ll find somewhere that does. Trust? sure I have it, but not for stuff like this.

Smart move Grumpy.

Most shops do not allow you inside work area due to insurance concern.
Unless, of course, you know some indie owner who does not care about that.

I've been in every shop my car has been in... usually they just say don't walk under anything and don't touch anything. I'm not about to ruin their insurance premiums.

Hell even Sears (this is not a recommendation, in fact, avoid all large chains) has lines painted where you're allowed to walk.
