Oil Burning??

ok here is what happend...

driving down the interstate following (or trying) to keep up with my buddys in there gti and vr6's.

we all get off the interstate and i noticed a humming noise and my battery light was on.
we get to my place and coolant is everywhere. noticing that my alternator belt was no longer there either. so fix that and put coolant in.
now my car has been goin through a qt of oil every couple weeks (not leaking at all). when i pull up to a light i can smell like the is getting hot although the guage never goes past its point. i know not to trust guages.

what do you all think it could be???

some people say it could be blown head gasket or burnt rings.

thanks for any help i can get

are you sure your coolant is working? there is no coolant leak? if you're radiatoris not cooling your engine, it's burning up and your oil is going to burn up too...i think that's right...check your radiator and coolant...

anoter idea is your head....you may have a burned up a gasket in the hed, or acually damaged you head badly...both will cause the same to happen. if coolant is ok, you need to stop drivng the car and get the internals esecially the head checked asap. I ha this problm on a 4g63 i was working on and the owner kept driving it and destroyed the entire head, rebuild ftl

i've seen lots of peeps on here complain about oil consumption, including myself... i even switched oil last time, i used Mobile1 10w30 now i switched to Royal Purlpe and in the last 7 weeks i ended up adding 1.5qt... i tend to drive her a bit hard at times and that does contribute to oil goin away but still i will look into it around summer (i expect burnt rings)

peeps have tried many things and some claimed it worked for em... some switched oils and it got better, others looked into their pcvs, some said that replacing the oil cap had helped, others changed their gaskets etc

another thing that i've researched is that (i beleive its cylinder #4?) starvs and ends up eating oil...
