oil and tranny oil coolers

It was my understanding that with the air oil cooler you would have to run a remote oil filter to get the plumbing to work right for the cooler.

And then a fan for the cooler. You'll need a relay and all kinds of other crap for that.

One of the links I saw earlier about running the oil filter remote with air-to-air oil cooler was on the $600 mark for all parts involved...

no way... I'm gonna do one with a fan when I get my turbo kit.. I'm just gonna put it inline somewheres. And I guarantee I can do it for around $100, fan and all, simple relay to come on with IGN power.

Sounds cool, good luck...

although I will probably put it on a delay relay, so the oil can warm up... but I guarantee the turbo will heat it up[ with a quickness

That's for sure...Just make sure the car is warmed up before hittin' the boost.

yea, i don't know how the hell you get 600 bucks for all the fittings and stuff (that is the bolt on kit, the remote one is not much more expensive) like RyanJayG said, it should be about 100 bucks, a better question is, should i even do it?

then its a good idea... turbos are often only cooled by oil (some are cooled by coolant too) and they can reach extremely high temps. This shortens the oil's life, so its a VERY good idea to cool the oil.

I've seen Turbo temps as high as 1200 deg, but not on a protege, I don't know how hot they get.

Check the other thread on this topic...If you start using steel braded lines and AN fittings you are going to spend a nice chunk of change...
