Ohio and front license plates

$12 eBay bracket and Gorilla glue. Piece of cake.

i'm a big fan of home depot racing...I'll see what I can fab up. did you search liscence plate brackets for protege?

Me too. But these brackets will look better than HD Racing. Here's basically what I got. Same bracket, different seller. And it's mad JDM, yO!

Then I just got some Gorilla GLue and cleaned everything really well. Then pulled the lower grill open just a bit to slide that piece of the bracket between the top of the grill and the bumper with some glue. Then just slid it and cleaned up the excess glue. It's held really well through plenty of automatic car washes, the winter and 120mph.

Well...my front plate is going back on. I got pulled over for doing 48 in a 35 in Brecksville on my way to work today (I had woken up 10 minutes before so I wasn't exactly awake enough to monitor my speed going down hill haha). He also said he noticed that I didn't have my front plate. I told him that the plate fell off a few days ago, I have it in my trunk and I just need to get new screws that fit so I can put it back on lol. Well, he went back to his car and did the usual BS they do to waste your time. He comes back and says he's not going to give me a ticket for speeding, but he's going to give me a citation for no front plate. He also said that it's not a moving violation, so no points and insurance isn't affected.

I wonder if he would have given me a speeding ticket if I had the front plate? Makes me almost think that he didn't want to give me a speeding ticket, so in order to ticket me for something, he chose the plate? lol Who knows!!

I'm going to see if I can got to the court with the plate on and have them drop the fines for showing that I have a front plate. I wonder how much it will cost.

Hmm... I work in Brecksville. Time will tell if they give me a hard time about the front plate. I see cops all the time waiting for that person doing 38 in a 35, or 28 in that awful 25 zone.

that does look pretty good for $12.50. I like how it says direct bolt-on and right under that it says minor modification required.

do you have any pics of how you mounted it?

Here's the only pic I found in my build thread. I can take close ups after work if you like. I agree with everyone that no front plate looks the best, but it's just not worth it to me to get hassled by cops for it.

I think I just need to figure out how to attach it to make it work. Once it gets here I'll be able to figure it out.

Where do you work? I live in Brecksville. Do you typically take 77 South? I think I see you quite often while I'm on 77N

I work off W. Snowville about a .5 mile from 21. I don't take 77 S unless I'm going to Fairlawn for lunch. I come to work on the turnpike it pretty much takes me directly to/from my house.

Just a heads up i kno ohio is in the process of passing a law making front plates optional. and its looking good for all of us :)

That would be awesome.

The only time I've ever been hassled about the issue is by OSU police. I got pulled over once and he gave me a warning. The second time I was going 37 in a 25 and still didn't have my license plate on. The lady was real nice and just said put your license plate on so I don't have to pull you over again and let me go. I put it on using zip ties lol.

Lets hope. It's been on the books a few times before and has been voted down :( Maybe it will get the nod this time.

In other news related to plates. Just ordered UNPRIUS for the 8. Can't wait to get them so I can throw the front in the trunk like i always do.

How much were ur custom plates? I wanted to get "IGNORNT" lol. but the argument on the plates is basically over the fact that it will save the state of ohio a couple million dollars in stamping costs.

They're $50 more than the regular fee. I got my plates ("PFIZZLE") at the end of May. My birthday is in July, so they offered for me to pay until July '12...they were $130 or so.

u mean like a payment plan or somethin? and DAYUUUMMMM 130?! lol hopefully that front license plate law passes b4 the 22nd so the price gets cut in half bc thats when my temp tags will expire lol

No, the fee was just $130, and now my plates are good until next July. If I got them till only this July, they would've been $80-something.

$111

Registration renewal $40, custom plate $50 while Tax, shipping, and processing make up the rest.

same here. renewed both the speed (ms6 ftw) and the cx7 (icy trbo) for a grand total of $210 keeping the existing red/white/blue plates, not the stupid new plates.
