I've been installing a carPC in my Mazda. I took out the center console over a month ago. I put the center console back in and moved the car in to the street two weeks ago. Last night I go to start it and the battery is dead. No biggie, so I jumped it. Perfect. I get in and go to shift it into gear and no go. WTF! POS!
So today I do the same thing. No go. I take out the center console. Nothing is touching the area around the shifter in the least bit. Still no shifting out of Park. So I see a little white clip to the right of the shifter like a release latch with a spring. If I pull up the release it allows me to shift in to reverse and I can let go and shift into D, use the tabby clutch, shift back in to N if I want but I need to pull the latch again to shift in to reverse.
What could be wrong with my car? Could a dead battery be doing this?
