It's rumored - emphasis on rumored - that Nissan may very well build a Z with the 4.5L VK45DE V8 and go racing. The Z has enjoyed GT success with the turbo VQ V6 but a production equivalent does not exist limiting their options for competition globally.

Naturally, a long nose would be used as a basis if such a car were ever to exist.

Projected cost of entry? ~$50-55,000US

i don't know s*** about engines, but what's better with a v configuration over a straight 6?

In lines are harder to balance as the length of the cams, crank.... are longer.

A V engine has the cylinders lined up in a V where a straight 6 has the cylinders in a line.

nice.. I love the 300zx rear-end from that angle.

There was a paragraph that is in French.

Commercial successes of the of 350 Z is undeniably diminishing in the United States. Nissan does not intend to remain quiet about it, and will respond in the American market with a super Z: 450 Z!

This will use the 350 Z structure and modern design. But will exchange the V6 with 4.5 V8 in it's place that has had success in various races in Japan. It will have about 430hp compare with the 280 of the 350 Z. The transmission will be a manuall 6 speed box, and have AWD. This will be light and small package, that will compete with the Porsche 911 Carerra or Maserati 4.2. What promise.

----
I read a few other things. Some believe this will be racing only, and NOT be a road car. Others say that it will be a road car and priced between $50-55K. I think that's a little high -- that's a $25K premium for a motor and AWD. At $10-15K more, they could sell a lot of them. (It'd make my short list). But well into the vette range? It's going to be a lot harder to move many units.... But just having the car could get Americans used to a real sportscar from Nissan, and prime the nation for the GT-R in a couple years.

hmm, so they are gonna offer the same vk45 engine that they're gonna offer for the skyline? I dont think that'll likely happen

Now this is what should have replaced the 300Z...This looks like the next generation...A lot meaner stance than the current 350Z model...Holy smokes...I will own one if it looks close to this when produced...and its not $50K

a special edition Z would be cool, but i don't think it will have near 430hp.

I think they will either bump the displacement a bit on the current motor, or make a 450Z, and have it at about 350-360hp and RWD. enough to give it a performance premium over the current model without infringing on the coming GT-R.

Keep in mind that it's a concept drawing. The 350z no doubt looked better when it was on paper too :D
