Mod, if the London Motor Show is the one as the British Motor show, please feel free to merge (damn Brits, they just confuse people with all the names ;))

We've been teased twice and now we finally get our first unmasked glimpse of the Ford Focus RS concept, due to debut at the London Motor Show next month. Images of the gaudy green hatch have begun to surface on a few sites across the pond, and the aggressive body work and racy interior mean that Ford's hottest hatch has to be packing some serious kit underhood. It is.

The Focus RS will be equipped with a tweaked version of the turbocharged Duratec 2.5-liter inline-five found in the ST, and will send between 280 and 300 hp, along with 300+ lb.-ft. of torque, through the front wheels via a six-speed gearbox equipped with a Quaife limited-slip differential. With that kind of power, the RS should be able to make the run to 60 in less than six seconds assuming you don't torque-steer yourself into a tree in the process.

The dynamic body kit, complete with gaping maw, flared fenders, side sills, rear diffuser and wing, and unfortunate fender vents, compliments the lowered ride height, 19-inch, 15-spoke wheels and upgraded brakes. Inside, color-matched, two-tone Recaro thrones join an RS-specific instrument cluster and smaller diameter steering wheel.

More information should be released in the run-up to the show. As always, watch this space.

HOT! sounds like 2010 might just be new car time, that is if it sees it's way over to this side of the 'pond'.

Looks like the STi's ugly little sister.

I will def at least test drive one.

I would drive it. But I won't hold my breathe in that the U.S. would be graced with its presence.

My eyes are drawn right to those fender vents.. I'm really angry those made it to the production model.

I was excited until I read: "turbocharged Duratec 2.5-liter inline-five found in the ST, and will send between 280 and 300 hp, along with 300+ lb.-ft. of torque, through the front wheelsvia a six-speed gearbox equipped with a Quaife limited-slip differential..."

This car screams for AWD.

Yes, yes it does.. Where would they snag the components from.. Ford doesn't have an AWD drivetrain in something that teeny, do they?

Closest they've got is the V50 AFAIK, but that's the same platform. Shouldn't be too hard to fit it. If there's an AWD Mazda3 anywhere, that system might bolt right up.

1,000 sign up for the 2009 Ford Focus RS, pricing yet to be revealed

Ford of Europe has yet to release the pricing on the new 2009 Ford Focus RS - heck they still have yet to release official performance figures like the 0 to 60 time and the top speed. But thats not stopping Britons from running into Ford dealers to sign up and put down deposits.

According to AutoTelegraaf, 1,000 Ford Focus RS units have already been accounted for. 40 percent of the buyers have asked to get their Focus RS in the Electric Green shade that Ford showed at the 2008 London International Motor Show. Other colors will include Electric Blue and Frozen White.

Power for the new 2009 Ford Focus RS comes from a turbocharged version of the Duratec 2.5 liter 5-cylinder engine that produces 296-hp with a peak torque of 221 lb-ft. 0-60 mph is said to come in under 6 seconds.
