OEM wheels with different 225/45/18s?

Nice, thanks. I'm in bad need of new tires, I was thinking of getting Sumitomo HTR Z III or Kumho Ecsta ASX. You guys have any thoughts on those, which is the better buy?

The Kumho ASX is all season, the Sumitomo HTR Z III is a summer tire.

How much do you want to spend? Do you want a high performance summer tire or an all season? There are some good choices depending on which way you go...I'm running the 225/45/18 Dunlop Direzza sport Z1 star spec and it is a very grippy nice riding tire. It really depends on what your looking for in a tire. (sun)

I was actually leaning towards the Sumitoro HTR Z iii, seems like the better buy. Decent wet traction, I live in So Cal so it hardly rains here. I want a tire that's not too expensive but at the same time give me good handling and ride quality. I think the Sumitoro, according to the tests is a a well balanced tire.

I was looking at 225/40s also, but some people are saying it's not recommended? that 225/45 is the way to go...anyone care to explain?

I don't see why you would have any problems with a 225/40. They recommend that you have a rim width for most tires like this of 7.5-9 but they will still fit fine. They might just wear a little bit strange.

I guess that's what I don't get either, why would you need a wider rim for a shorter height?
