I have a 2008 mazdaspeed3 GT, with the stock navi and bose system. I never had this problem prior to having a shop (who's know-how is less than impressive) install a pioneer AVH-P4200DVD touch screen radio. I love the pioneer, but occasionally while I'm driving or watching something the pioneer and the stock pop-up gps screen will black out, shut down, and restart. There is nothing I can correlate this occurence to. The only consistency is that both the GPS screen, and the pioneer will power down and restart together every time. Other than that, I believe it does it under all kinds of driving situations. My vehicle doesn't seem to run any differently when this happens, and my dash lights, and headlights will stay lit. Its simply these two items that will experience this problem.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have had some issues with the battery in the past. My battery seems to die really fast, from just sitting parked and watching a DVD. Obviously the faulty problem has to do with something that involves both those components. Power supply possibly? I'm not running any external amps or speakers. Just the pioneer, a STRI boost gauge, and a Greddy turbo timer. The rest of the system is stock (including that awesome Bose stereo).
Please send me your suggestions! I am going to the stereo shop tomorrow that installed it, and they're going to pull it out at my request to check the wiring, but the installer already insisited his wiring is very simple, and the problem isnt there. He wants to have an electronics guru there take apart my pioneer to look for the problem in there, but I'm near positive pioneer has nothing to do with this problem.
Let me know what you think. Also, if installed incorrectly, what crossed wires in the installation of the wiring harness could cause this problem? What should I perhaps look for to make sure they did the install correctly'?
Please help!!!!
Thanks
Marcus
