OBX Header Under $200 dollars??

So what all had to be done with this header to make it work, how much more did it cost and is it worth it.

As far as the rattling noise, it kind of reminds me of my 2000 GT with off road h-pipe. I thought for sure that I was knocking/pinging. Turns out it's the free flowing exhaust pulses were making the noise. Don't know if that is your case, but something to think of.

Thanks,
Sam

Well..Sorry i haven't been online..my internet went down..had to purchase a new modem..

V.92 US Robotics

:D

About the header..The only modifications..to make the ebay header work...is!

1. Need to have the egr (exhaust gas recirculator) welded onto the header!

2. Need a testpipe made b/c the headers ends in the middle of the 2nd cat..
*note you can have some shop..cut the header..and weld a flange onto the cat to save the 2nd cat..but i wouldn't do that just b/c i want to beable to go back to stock for inspection!!

3. make sure that if you have a silencer..to really make sure its on tight..the header causes alot more pressure out the exhuast and it turned out that was making the raspy noise!

how miuch did the egr valve and test pipe work cost you, or what you estimate it should cost with time to prepare for it?

last word ky got back from them(he is a ractice rep for the site he works for) they had their prototype tested and everything looked very good as far as gains, fitment, bungs all of it and they were justw aiting on final data before going into production. they were planning 2 maybe 3 months from about 2 weeks ago i think.

Ill see if he can keep bugging them for info.

or drop kymp5 a pm about it.

man, isn't ractive one of the companies that have promised a protege header since 2001? the last i heard, it was 2-3 months from release. all they were waiting for was some final data and the interest in order to push it through to production. this was over a year ago when i started researching for the p5. oh well. maybe this time they mean it.

I ordered a Ractive header yesterday..I was told they have it in stock and are shipping but we'll see...If true..I should have it Friday (tomorrow) or Teusday (Monday being a holiday up here) I'll keep everyone posted. Keeping my fingers crossed but not too excited yet.

you wont get it. unless they somehow have them in europe. or you get the prototype or something.

yah last I had heard from kymp5 is he called them and they said they were just finishing testing the prototype and were about to go into production. meaning 2 months till they have enough to ship out.

The thing is their retailers are just now getting part numbers in, some of them are dumb enough to list them without listening to ractive about how they are just going into production.

They will prob just tell you its on backorder if u tried ordering already.

Anyway if you could post the site you ordered from or number Id like to contact them and see if they can tell me they physically have it in site.

Well, just spoke to the performance shop I bought the header from, it is in transit so it does exist and they say it has been shipped... I was told to come by tomorrow ot Tuesday to pick it up.
I had expressed my concern with the part not actually being available yet and made him call Toucan again..they confirmed, it's being shipped right now...maybe it has something to do with toucan being located in Toronto...Canada maybe gets it first?? dunno?
Part Number is M101. My total came to $340 taxes in (Canadian funds) ($295 before tax)
Of course I'll take pics and update everyone when I can. Off tomorrw on Holidays so I wont be able to post anything until Tuesday.

$340 canadian is, according to my calculations, about $255. holy cow. hope this is a direct fit. if it is, i'm getting this. add another $20 for the MIL thingamabob and i'm golden. doode... i think i can afford it! can't wait... can't wait... guess i'm selling the rest of my camera gear for this.

Ok, so who is this shop and will they do mail order to the states or does anyone know where we can pick these up here in the ol' US?

Thanks,
Sam

ill believe it when
A) i see pics
B) i see a tracking number

ps - anyone who wants a cheap header, when i get my turbo ill prolly be selling my RM header and test pipe for around 250ish

well i would be very excited if this was already shipping.

I had only said what I was told by someone who had talked to ractive or toucan but if it is shipping already thats great, when you receive it please take pics, I may be ordering sooner than expected.

also KYMP5 had mentioned getting a GTB going when this header became avilable so I will cntact him and see what we can do.

I talked to a shop here about it. They called Toucan and was told that it could be 2 day to 2 months. Either way, it has not been released, yet. At least according to whoever my local shop talked to. I hope this is all wrong, but we'll see.

Okay guys and Girls..I have the Ractive header in front of me..It looks pretty good. I'll post some pics up in the next hour. It's not as pretty as the racing Mazda one but for $290 canadian ($219usd) I think it looks pretty damn good! It is a one piece
(4-1) and needs no modification, bolts up directly to the cat pipe. The only mod you need to do is to your factory pipe and that is to weld a second O2 bung for the sensor. (Or not and use the MIL elim.)
Going to take pics now..
