I think Honolii is a safe place to swim...but I haven't been there for almost 10 years. Dirty water? WTF? (notcool)
i havent seen it that big yet. honolii is pretty safe to swim and surf. go oahu and some places are hard. runoff from the mountain makes it dirty.
