now i got power past 5.5K!

When I only had my CAI the power would drop off at 5.5 "like normal"... but since I have cut open my intercooler cover( cut it to where all of the IC is showing and not just the mesh) and installed my mid-pipe I can pass 5.5K w/ out the power loss. Iv'e only got up to like 6-6.1K so far.. the weather has been around high 50's- high 60's when i have been driving.. Do you guys think its the cold weather?... or is it cause its getting more air by cutting the cover + midpipe?... anyways the car is blast now...
 
i think its more of just the midpipe and it being a little colder. i honestly don't think the mesh is going to do that much of a difference. Although i could be wrong but no really tests have shown the mesh being that much of a difference.
 
its more then just the mesh part but even then the mid-pipe is not known to give power past 5.5K.. from what i know ecu tuning and FMIC or maybe a top mount will give you that...
..the weather is warmer right now... so i will go check it out as i go home.. ill keep you guys posted.
 
You sure its not just your imagination :) My test pipe / catback exhaust gave me more low end power and torque if anything. Turbo starts spooling a bit faster but I really didnt notice anything special up high. Hopefully this new trz co2 cooled TMIC comes out soon. I wanna spray co2 NOW !!
 
just got back... and NO its not my imagination... I got it to 6.5-6.7krpm now before it starting falling off. I almost got it to 7krpm just to see where cut off was at... It definitely pulls harder and stronger all the way thru... even past 5.5rpms it feels like there is so much power... the temp was 66degrees..I dont know whatever it might be i love it... I have a feeling opening up the IC cover did something

Are you watching your boost or just "eye balling" this power? AT 5.5K its not like our cars stop lol they still pull just not as much. But hey if your getting this power . . . sweet.
 
I've noticed that my car is loving the cool temps we are having now. It feels like a different car.

While I cannot argue the fact that you are getting power to almost 7k RPM, I can certainly call BS on it coming from the removal of the IC cover grid.

FWIW, I really want to call BS on power to 7k, but I won't. ;)
 
no.. im not saying its coming from the IC cover... it might be doing something to help.. but i just dont know, its weird .... and its more like 6.5Krpms before the power starts dropping lol
 
it was 26 degrees driving home the other night and she felt extra beastly, proving that heatsoak is one of the top three problems with this car.
 
sorry for the bad vid and the music... i didn't know it would pick up such low volume... I don't condone making a vid like this while driving... looking at the vid it seems its not pulling hard past 6 in the last 2 gears... it might be the speed i dont know- please dont flame! maybe the power up top IS just in my head

Yeah, heatsoak while moving. It's simply the denser air to begin with. Please keep your misinformation to yourself.
