Notice: To All With Screeching Turbo's

Took my car to Mazda today.
The good, my tech agreed with me that the hesitation is a MAJOR problem. He talked to Mazda for about 2 hrs...they're sending a "prototype" ECU to try(YES!)

The bad, he took off the turbocharger and guess what, it was only being fed a few drips of oil...it moved ALL over the place. New one on the way, but IF YOUR CAR HAS A SCREECHING TURBO, TAKE IT TO MAZDA ASAP!

hey man i live in greer.. when i step on the gas the turbo has a whistling sound. is that the sound you are hearing? we have to get together sometime.

Okay, this is the sound of the turbo + a metal-on-metal high-pitch whine. Usually can be heard with the windows up and between 4-5k in 2nd and 3rd gear. At least thats what it was like in my car.

Yeah I got the high pitch whistle, I'm at 1000 miles so I'm gonna go back anyway to get check up, might as well have them check out the turbo too.

thats turbo whine, not screeching and grinding metal. most of u are hearing the NORMAL open loop whistle of the turbo. he is talking about a metal on metal sound, now thats NOT normal!

turbos supposed to whistle...my friend had the oil feed problem on his WRX...sorta sounded like a dentists drill

yeah i never heard the turbo whine on my wrx.. even with my uppipe and intake.

uppipe... hahaha. i think its cool that there is a cat on the WRX uppipe. the MSP don't have an uppipe fortunately.

You get it withen the past week? From John Finger? I came buy and a bunch of salesman came over and said "We sold the orange and yellow ones!"

My turbo definitely gets louder at 4-5K RPM, but I wouldn't say it sounds like metal-on-metal. I also can't hear it with the windows up.

I'm not going to worry about it, if it dies I get a new engine. If it doesn't die by 35,000 miles, I'll take it in and ask. It won't die though. It makes me too happy to die.

those uppies are a b**** to install when you don't deal with wrxes all of the time
and the only whistle I hear from mine is when I am around 7000 rpm and I let off the gas to shift?

well s***.. I have a MBC on my car... so if I do have this "turbo problem",, and my turbo dies... what do I do?? take it off?? what if my stock wastgate hose is different?? will they b****??

Just dont mess with the elbow coming off the wastegate. If yours is like mine it will have an elbow with a onetime crimp fitting and then a little white plastic connector going into that bad stock wastegate hose which is now connected to a 1/8 '' to 3/16'' adapter and then your MBC. Just make sure it all looks clean and kosher and dont touch the elbow or lose your foam sleeve or put your nads on the hot turbo....

And yes mine whines at RPM but it is the lovely I'm pumping that good ol air in dare sound. Whine, Whoosh oh yeah. (rockon)

I'm getting the samme screeching sound too. My car goes in for that and the stumbling/hesitation issue on Fri. This really sux!
