'nother P5 owner...again

2004 Java STi
Trading in my STi for [hopefully] a certain white 2003. I had a Black Mica '03 when they were new (bought December 7th 2002). Unfortunately, financial situation forced sale. Hopefully I'll be getting back in the game ;) IIRC my name on here was Balboa5sx (uhm)

Name's Evan, I'm 18 and reside in Palm Harbor, Florida (Tampa Bay area). Soon to move to Orlando to attend UTI (auto mechanics and specialized techs). Currently own a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Java Black Pearl - minor mods. Previous owner ghetto ported the turbo and wastegate, which, according to my father, counds like a squirrel getting ***** when the wg opens (hence "Squirrel killer")...

Plans are simple for my P5 - first off, getting her up to par. Stage 3 or equiv. clutch and lightened flywheel (cannot stand such a soft stock clutch after driving my STi), short shifter (mile-long shifter throw!!!!!!) with shifter bushings to tighten it up (if even available (dunno)).

Then, handling - Tien SS or equiv. coilovers, sways, bushings, etc. 17x7.5"+ wheels with PZero Nero tires or Falken Azenis ST-115 tires.

Not doing much for performance (only racing will be autox or OT), maybe a shortram for increased throttle response (had a K&N cone on my old 2003 - IIRC it made a world of difference). Maybe a stock-looking catback, pulleys, and who know what else. Probably some good spark plugs and wires, maybe upgraded ignition.

Looks department will come in the way of carbon fiber products (haven't decided exactly what, yet). Plans for an Alpine CD/MP3/WMA deck, dynamatted doors with Polk speakers (friend's shop is very close to Polk), maybe a decent four-channel to push them.

Plans are simple, for now. I really forgot what's all available for the Mazda 2.0 and P5 chassis. Gonna need some good vendor sites, if y'all don't mind ;)

Payments too high, bad gas mileage, and need cargo room when moving to Orlando. Plus I still have a place in my heart for the P5...

Wow, talk about a harsh forum......I do realize there's a world of difference between the two cars, but the P5 is what I need. Sure, I'm going to miss 300 turbocharged horsepower and AWD, but I don't need that right now in my life. I'm trying to save money and go to school.

Glad to hear you are coming back... Evo MRs are so much sweeter than STis anyways :D

If you plan on autocrossing, then you'll probably end up doing a lot of mods. I'd recommend new struts and springs, sticky tires on your wheels, a larger rear sway bar, and a header. So far those mods have given the most noticeable gains. Then there is always the short shifter...

Yea, it is hard to not spend all your money modding :)

awesome man. well there are tons of vendors here. looks wise try dgmotorsport*s not sure if its with or with the s. then of course protegegarage.com those are only off the top of my head. not saying the others ones aren't good. you wanted bushing and a short shifter. kartboy has a special running where you get free bushings when you order his kit check out the thread. nice to have you back-even though i've never known of yah. just keep on surfing the boards TONS of places to buy and always groupbuys.

Add vented rotors, good pads, SS lined, Motul brake fluid, and Royal Purple tranny fluid.

Was actually looking at the DWM shortshift kit - short shifter, bushings, knob, and leather boot for $236!

Does anyone make tint overlays for the clear circular portion of the tail lights?

Yes, Blue_Batmobile. Here is a pic of RobMP5's car.

Other than the RP fluid, I need to get the rest of those. Along with an LSD. Money = suck.

Blue batmobile (Andy) is a great guy to deal with.

Just curious, if you're trying to save money then why do you want to put so much more money into a P5? Must be nice though at 18.

except for flywheel/clutch, your plans are what I have now. The ride is kinda stiff on the TEIN SS, but the cornering is worth it :D
