Well, we have had my wifes car for not even a month and its had it's first accident last night. My truck was loaded down with pavers so I left it at home and I dropped my wife off at work and I took her car (the CX-7) to work. Well, at the end of the day I went to pick her up. Well I was driving down a 3 lane road, I was in the middle lane, and it was right before a major intersection, so on the corner of the intersection to my immediate right there was a shopping center. Well one of the exiting driveways was right there, and somebody in the most right lane had let a car out of the shopping center drive way and the other driver decided to proceed to try and cross all three lanes to get to the turn lanes on the left most side. Well, thank god the CX-7 has some great breaks, I slammed on them, and I still ended up hitting them, damage to my exact front passanger side bump and their exact front driver corner bumper.... we each were going about 5mph at time of impact (was was going about 40 mph before I hit the brakes).... enough to swap paint and take some of the paint down to the plastic, the bumper looks as though it was pushed up about an 1/8" or so... the bumper overlaps the fender by a hair now instead of being flush. So all things considered it is very minor. The funny thing is my wife signed us both up with AAA insurance and I had just signed the final paper work 5 1/2 hours prior.... and the other driver is with AAA as well. The strangest thing is I went to school with the driver and also his girlfriend (who was in the car), only to find out later that my wife grew up on the same street as the driver of the other car and actually use to babysit the girl passanger..... it is a small world. It has not been decided who is at fault by insurance, but I know 2 people who were in similar situations (the driver exiting the driveway was at fault both times) since they are "merging" and I techniqely had the right of way. Plus my buddy who is in a police academy said that the other driver is at fault. Sorry this is sooo long, I just needed to vent. I wish it was in my car, though it isn't even a year old, it is a truck and I could just buffed of the chrome bumper....... (pissed)
