I wa slooking at my car today and noticed something odd... i have a plasitc pip running from the bottom of my itnake box all the way down the bottom of hte engine bay and then into a white compartment looking thing and then at the top of the white thing there is a 90 degree opening...so this is how air gets into the air box... never knew that...

my Q is... when you get like the ractive intake couldnt u leave that pipe tehre and use it for cooler air..

OR

get that intake, extend it to meet up with the black tube and then cut the black pipe off right where it goes to teh white thing and put the cone on the end of it right there so u have a cold air intake...

Also what the hell is that white thing?

I have a 96 1.5l LX if that helps

That plastic pipe that leads to the white plastic box is to trap water in case you going to hit a deep puddle. Water is supose to run down and escape your intake piping.

but the opening of the hole is behind the headlight... if i got water in that hole... im pretty sure i would need more than a little white plastic containter

sorry i dont get it either. i know there is a black thing that drops way into the engine bay on the stock air intake...

uhh , that pipping is what runs to your intake resonator, which is located in the side of the driver side bumper . That is the white box that you see the intake pipe connected to . It then runs up and has an opening that is behind the drivers side fender and that is where your intake collects air from .

If you put on an aftermarket intake you can leave it there if you want. That would be purely up to you , but to get that resonator out you have to pull the bumper off.

The aftermarket intake would pull air from behind the headlight anyway .. so it would be ok ..

yeah, just for the **** of it, heres my car with the essentialspeed.com cold air intake. It leaves the white box but removes the black piping.
